Cupar Community - We need your help. Not only are we recruiting, (see previous post) but we require your help with training venues.

Our team are constantly training in various aspects of the role, none more so important than Breathing Apparatus (BA). This is the single most critical tool that keeps us safe and allows us to enter a smoke filled building safely.

Whilst we do have facilities that the crew can travel too, having a few places local would be of great help.

What do we need - ideally empty, but partially furnished, or with items laying about are great, whether it's a house, warehouse or empty shop.

What would we do - Carry out BA procedures allowing us to continuously develop. This includes casually rescue.

Would we use water πŸ’§ - Absolutely no water would be used.

Would we use cosmetic smoke - Only if the premises was empty and permission granted from the owner.

When would we use it - the crew train on a Tuesday night from 6 -9. This is the ideal time, but we can be flexible if use can only be granted on other days etc.

How often would you use it - depending on how many venues we can get, at the most once or twice a 3 month period.

What access do you require - initially someone to let us in and shows us where the services are etc.

If you think you can help, please touch base with us. By messenger, pop into the station or speak to a local FF.
We will then be in touch and carry out a risk assessment of the premises.

Thanks for your continued support.

Cupar Billboard if you wouldn't mind sharing please.

πŸ”‹ Don't Bin It. Recycle It. Prevent Fires. πŸš’

Fife Council and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are joining forces to raise awareness of the risks associated with lithium-ion batteries and the importance of safe disposal.

Did you know many everyday items contain rechargeable batteries?

From vapes and mobile phones to power banks, electric toothbrushes, toys and wireless earbuds, batteries are all around us.

When batteries are damaged or incorrectly disposed of in household bins, they can be crushed during waste collection and processing. This can potentially start a fire, putting waste workers, firefighters and local communities at risk.

You can help prevent battery fires:

πŸ”‹ Recycle batteries and electrical items safely
⚑ Use the correct charger and follow the manufacturer's instructions
🚫 Never use or charge a damaged battery
🏠 Never charge devices while you're asleep or away from home
Together, we can help reduce the risk of battery fires and keep our communities safer.

A very high wildfire risk is forecast across central highlands, southern and eastern Scotland this week and into the weekend.

If you're enjoying the warmer weather, please do so responsibly. One spark can start a wildfire that destroys property, wildlife and landscapes.

Stay vigilant, even if a warning is not in place in your area.
