A catch up with Insp Wildman!๐ฎ๐ปโโ๏ธ
The third quarter of the year continued to be a busy one for the team. The continuation of the hot weather with a sustained increase in demand, the local policing teams have been working hard responding to challenging incidents across the city, as well as responding to daily business and working alongside partner agencies.โ
I am wanting to take the time to update you on the progress on the priorities we set for the third quarter of the year, whilst also notifying you of our upcoming SNT priorities for the last 3 months of the year.
Over the last 3 months, Alvaston & Boulton SNT have focused on Nuisance Off-Road Bikes, Shoplifting and ASB around Harvey Road and Coleman Street ๐
The team have achieved the following:
- Completed 39 stop searches during plain clothes and uniformed patrols in the area, aimed at disrupting criminality and making our streets safer.
- Worked alongside partner agencies to issue ASB warning letters and Community Protection Warnings and Notices.
- Obtained a Closure Order for an address on Shorwell Gardens following months of ASB and recent disorder.
- Arrested prolific shoplifters who have received custodial sentences following a spate of shop thefts. One offender already had a CBO issued, so the team managed to amend the CBO to include the new stores targeted.
- Hosted pop-up community events and street-meets alongside partner agencies and businesses to raise awareness of ASB and promote reporting.
This leads me onto the last quarter, where my aim is to take on the feedback you have provided us (via engagements and the Derbyshire Alert surveys) and tell you of our focuses & prioritiesโ
- Targeting Nuisance Off-Road Bikes will remain a priority following concerns raised by the community and a spate of offences involving off-road bikes in the area . We will continue to on address Nuisance off-road bikes around Alvaston Park, open green public spaces and the canal path. We will aim to work closely with our Off-Road bike team to take positive action and to promote road safety in schools and within the community.
- There will therefore be a focus on residential and business burglary, robbery and theft of and from motor vehicles, with the aim of identifying hotspots, offenders and offering crime prevention advice to communities ๐ณ
- Following feedback from the community and partner agencies and with the build up to Christmas, our third priority will focus on ASB and Shoplifting around Allenton Shops. We will conduct high-visibility and plain clothes patrols in hotspot areas, to deter offenders, develop intelligence and provide community reassurance. We will also focus on stop search powers where appropriate. We will work alongside businesses in the community to promote target hardening and reporting of offences and ASB. The team will also host pop-events outside of local shops ๐
Our priorities are set at the start of each quarter and are based off community feedback, obtained via various methods which include comments on social media, conversations that you the public have with my PCs and PCSOs. This also includes ongoing surveys the PCSOs complete with the community to gauge your feedback and feelings on what youโd like Police to focus on. We take on various other forms of feedback using partner agencies, such as the CSP (Community Safety Partnership), local Councillors & housing providers.
