Labour - Delivering for Derby

NEWS: Britain’s railway headquarters is coming to Derby city centre!

The Labour Government has confirmed that Great British Railways will be based at Becketwell, bringing hundreds of jobs and an estimated £151 million into our regional economy.

Choosing a city-centre location means Derby will get the greatest possible benefit from this decision. Hundreds of staff will bring regular customers into our shops, cafés and restaurants, helping local businesses grow and support more jobs.

Up to 600 new apprenticeships will also open over the next four years, opening more opportunities into a secure career locally.

Labour is bringing rail back into public ownership, putting passengers before profit and putting new investment into the heart of our city.

Derby is on the up, and Labour is backing us all the way.

Labour - Delivering for Derby

03/10/2026

There is real momentum behind Derby’s industrial future.

We’ve already seen major government backing for Rolls-Royce, including the £9 billion Submarines contract and £2.6 billion for the UK’s first Small Modular Reactor programme. Now Rolls-Royce is investing another £140 million in its Civil Aerospace facilities here in our city.

Labour is backing British industry and helping create the conditions for more investment, more skilled jobs and more opportunities here in Derby.

Reindustrialising Britain is about growing an economy that works for working people, with better wages, a realistic chance to buy a home and greater security later in life.
