🌾 🎃 What an incredible Harvest Festival at Codnor Primary School! 🎃 🌾

Wow! A huge thank you to the 200+ visitors who joined us this afternoon for our Harvest Festival! It was wonderful to see so many of our families and members of the community coming together to celebrate this special occasion and what a treat you had! Our children were in fine form, singing their hearts out and treating us to some absolute Harvest bangers! 🎶 And how lovely it was to see some of our visiting adults joining in with Cauliflowers Fluffy too! There’s nothing quite like a good old-fashioned Harvest Festival singalong!

A big congratulations to our lucky raffle winners- we hope you enjoy your colour hampers! And just a reminder- the remaining food donations will be hand delivered by our School Council to the Ripley Salvation Army food bank and the money raised is being donated to St James’ Church.

Days like today remind us just how fortunate we are to be part of such a fantastic school community. The support, enthusiasm and togetherness shown by our families and wider community mean so much to us, and we never take it for granted. And it goes without saying how incredibly proud of our children we are.

Thank you for filling our school with so much warmth, laughter and community spirit!💙🌾

Come along after school tonight and join our wonderful Friends of Codnor 💙

Calling all parents, family members and people of the community!! 📣

Our wonderful Friends of Codnor PTA are on the look out for new members!

Our PTA plays an important part in school life, helping to organise events, raise funds and create special experiences for our fabulous children.

You don’t need lots of free time, fundraising experience or any special skills- we just need enthusiastic people who would love to get into the Codnor spirit and get involved whenever and however they can.

Whether you can help at events, come along to meetings, share ideas, help with fundraising or simply lend a hand when you can, we’d love to hear from you!

Please pop along to meet our friendly team on Thursday 15th October at 3.30pm at school. There will be tea and biscuits and plenty of friendly faces to welcome you.

Together we can make a difference for our children and our school and we’d love for you to be part of that 💙

Sportshall (Indoor) Athletics Season is upon us and on Tuesday our Year 2 Athletics Team became AVSSP Heanor Cluster Y1/2 Athletics Champions!

In Sportshall Athletics competitions every child from each School's teams of Boys and Girls (just 4 each for Y1/2) are scored in 3 Field events; Chest Push Throw, Speed Bounce and Standing Long Jump before competing in Relay Races; Obstacle, Hurdles and Sprint.

Our unstoppable Y2 Athletes won 6/6 Races, plus a bonus Whole School Relay in an unscored race at the end, to score 750 points out of possible 840 and win the event!

We are incredibly proud of all our Y2 Athletes, some of which were representing our school for the first time, and we can't wait to give them and the rest of our very talented Y2s opportunities across a wide range of Sports this year.

Thank you to all parents and family members for the brilliant support we received on Tuesday and a huge thank you to AVSSP for organising another fantastic experience for our children.

We are now 1 of just 6 Amber Valley School's to have won a Sports Trophy in 2026/27 and you can keep track of all our amazing results here:

What an amazing effort by our children (and staff!) for Hello Yellow Mental Health day 👏🏼 💛

08/10/2026

💛💛💛💛💛💛

A reminder that tomorrow is Hello Yellow Mental Health Day! We are inviting everybody into school wearing yellow 💛

Hello Yellow!

Tomorrow (October 9th) is Hello Yellow, a campaign by YoungMinds to raise awareness of World Mental Health Day, start conversations about how we feel, and raise the spirits of young people - so no young person feels that they are alone.

Wear yellow tomorrow to take part in Hello Yellow, show your support for young people's mental health, and look fabulous while doing it.

2026 is a particularly special year, as it marks 10 years of Hello Yellow, and with it 10 years of starting these important conversations.
