Just a quick reminder that we have our extra special Gruffalo Granny Storytime coming up on October 29th at 2pm. No need to book, just drop in.

This coming half term we have an extra special Gruffalo Granny Storytime. On Thursday the 29th October at 2pm, dress up as your favourite character from the Gruffalo series and join us in the library to listen to a reading of the book and take part in lot's of different activities. All children are welcome, just drop in.

The Mischievous Library Assistant: Part 3

Earlier this week we caught Yun-Ling with her hand inside the jigsaw puzzles. When asked what she was up to she told us she was counting them. We made her turn out her pockets and it came to light that she was actually taking a piece from each box. As our jigsaws are there for our library users to take out on loan we were not impressed! After making her put all the pieces back in the correct boxes, she was handed a 5000 piece jigsaw to complete by the end of the week as punishment. The puzzle...An image made up of just baked beans with no picture guide to go by! That'll teach her! 🧩🧩😀

Every Friday from October 16th at 1pm we will be running a new English Exchange group. It's a free, friendly conversation group for those learning English as a second language. Come along and practise your spoken English. No need to book, just drop in.

The Mischievous Library Assistant: Episode 2

Yesterday we caught Yun-Ling sniggering behind the back of a customer who was taking out her books. The customer was scanning each of her 20 books individually by the barcode and getting quite frustrated at the time it was taking. Rather than advising the customer of the fact that she could actually just place a whole pile of books under the scanner at the same time, she thought it would be funny to watch her struggle, then tell her what she could've done as she walked out of the door!

Once again, Yun-Ling has been reprimanded and has been made to read all 1000 pages of 'The Library Assistants Code of Conduct', on which she will be tested next week.

Did you know that you do not need to scan your books individually when returning or borrowing? There's a little piece of 'magic' inside each book which the scanner picks up on; all you need to do is check the screen to make sure that everything is there.

Join us this half term holiday for all things Halloween! 🎃👻🧙‍♀️

On Monday 26th October at 3pm we have a special children's craft session and on Thursday 28th October at 5.45pm we have a special spooky Halloween Pyjama Storytime. Both sessions are drop in, please see the events section on Facebook for more information.

We also have a special Halloween treasure hunt that will be running all through the half term week.
