Did you know that if your windows or doors are within 1.8 meters (about 6 feet) horizontally and 9 meters (approximately 30 feet) vertically of an external fire escape, they must meet specific fire safety standards?

This means they need to be fire-rated, windows fixed shut, and doors must be self-closing.

In this case the above applied but if you have external escape stairs does your building comply?

Ever wondered how bright is "too bright"?

This was the excuse by the occupant of the building during a fire risk assessment we carried out:

"the light is too bright during our events so we tried to dim it"

From then on you can gauge how the rest of the assessment will turn out with oh its going to be one of those days moments.

In all seriousness though, effective emergency escape lighting is essential for guiding people to safety during an emergency showing the way when it matters most!

Remember, tampering with fire safety equipment is an offense that can lead to prosecution.
