Operation Stinger: tackling off-road bikes 🚫🏍️

Carried out on the afternoon of 13 June, Operation Stinger showcased the impact of co-ordinated enforcement and aerial support.

🚁 Using Blade, our pilots were able to identify offenders and direct officers on the ground with precision and in real time - demonstrating the power of aerial capability in tackling ASB.

This operation marked a first-of-its-kind for the council – a planned approach which led to targeted use of off-road bikes in areas known for anti-social behaviour and linked crime, such as robberies.

As a result:
🏠 Two riders and associated properties were identified
βš–οΈ PSPO enforcement and tenancy breach action will now follow
πŸš“ Additional offences including no licence and no insurance are being pursued

πŸ‘ This council led initiative was delivered in partnership with the police and the Canal & River Trust.

πŸ“£ We’ll be sharing more about our zero-tolerance activities.

Last week was National Carers Week and our team from Dudley Carers Hub was out and about spreading the word about the support they offer to unpaid carers of family or friends. On Friday they met over 400 people at their 'Carers Get Connected' event at Merry Hill Shopping Centre and offered information, advice and guidance to people caring for someone, or with care and support needs themselves. www.dudley.gov.uk/carers

If you fall in or get into trouble in water, stay calm. Float on your back and call for help. It's - sharing water safety advice like this could make a difference to you, or someone you love.

48% of accidental drownings happen between June and August*

Warm weather. Cold water. Real danger.

If you fall in or get into trouble, stay calm. Float on your back and call for help.
See someone struggling? Throw something that floats, like a football. Call 999, ask for the Coastguard if you’re at the coast.
Never enter the water to attempt a rescue.

Make sure your group knows what to do. It could save a life. Start by taking 5 minutes to learn the water safety code: www.rlss.org.uk/water-safety-code
