I know that in all the fuss of the internal elections it’s easy to look at federal roles like a dog looks at a bone, but don’t forget about all the important work you can do as part of a state organisation, there are just as many brilliant opportunities to make an impact on the states as it is in federal.

We want to encourage everyone, including those coming to a Scottish university this year to be an involved member of SYL, join your uni soc, attend the SYL exec meetings and even think about running for the exec!

SYL will be holding an in person AGM this year although the option to attend on line will still be available.

The venue will most likely be in either Glasgow or Edinburgh to allow the greatest number of people to attend, let us know where you’d prefer the venue to be and if you’d like to come along!

Hello! YL Winter Conference is coming to Sheffield in February!

You can register for free to attend online, or you can join us in person from £15.

Sheffield is an easy trip from both Edinburgh and Glasgow so we hope to see as many SYL members as possible!

We have accommodation available, or you can get a discount on a range of other hotels in the city here - https://www.shu.ac.uk/business/event-services/information-for-delegates/accommodation

We also have an access fund available to support people where cost may be a barrier to taking part. Please do register because we'd love to see as many of you as possible there!

We are pleased to announce that Arran Hibbert and Jake Stevenson are joining the exec in the roles of policy officer and vice chair respectively.
