The Summer Reading Challenge is almost here. 🎊🌞🎵
The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge theme is Read to the Beat. which is delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries and powered by Universal Music Group UK.
The theme inspires children to explore the connection between stories and songs, discovering how reading and music both ignite imagination and creativity. 🎵🎤🥁🎻🪘🪇🎺🎷🎸💃🕺
To complete the challenge, all you have to do is read at least six books from the library over the summer, and receive a certificate and medal for your achievement. 🎖️🎉
To sign up to the challenge please visit the library to complete a sign up card and receive a challenge pack.
The Summer Reading Challenge kicks off officially on Saturday 20th June.

Make Music Day : An Evening with Nobby Clark
Join us in celebrating Make Music Day at Newington Library on Monday 22nd June at 6pm for a laid-back chat with Nobby Clark, the original lead singer of the Bay City Rollers. Hear all about his life in the music business and get a glimpse into his autobiography straight from the man himself.
Whether you're a long time fan or just curious about the music scene, this is a great chance to hear stories and insights from a true rock legend in an informal setting.

We would like to congratulate NappiRunz who have been awarded with the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. NappiRunz is an amazing Edinburgh based charity with a mission to tackle nappy poverty in the communities by collecting unused nappies to distribute to families in need.
We would like to thank everyone who has donated and continues to donate nappies into Newington Library for NappiRunz. ❤
