The decision by an Israeli court to extend Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya’s arbitrary detention for another six months without charges or trial is yet another outrageous injustice.

Dr. Hussam should have never been detained in the first place, let alone subjected to this ordeal of torture and abuse. We, at Amnesty International, refuse to be silent and will continue to demand his immediate and unconditional release and that of all other Palestinians arbitrarily detained by Israel.

The family of .hussam73 have stated today, “Our family today received confirmation from the legal team at the Meizan Human Rights Center that the Israeli court has approved the extension of my father’s administrative
detention for another six months.

The decision comes despite my father’s name previously being included in the talk-of-release lists, which doubles as feelings of anxiety and bewilderment among our family and
all who pursue his humanitarian cause.

We express our deep concern that his continued detention without charges or fair trial, and we assure that this decision poses a great psychological and human burden on our family,
colleagues and loved ones around the world.

We renew our confidence in the legal team following his case closely, and in all the humanitarian and legal efforts to ensure
his release as soon as possible.

We advise everyone to rely only on official data released from the family or the legal team as a reliable source for any
updates.

The family of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya confirms that the Israeli court has extended his administrative detention for another
six months, despite his name having previously appeared among those discussed for release.

The family expresses deep concern over his continued detention and reaffirms full trust in the legal team and all humanitarian efforts working toward his freedom.

The family also calls on relevant institutions, human rights organizations, and the negotiating parties to actively address
his case and work toward his immediate release.
