Relocation of 1 SCOTS Pipes and Drums
On 16 March 2020 in a bid to rejuvenate, 1 SCOTS Pipes and Drums relocated to Balaklava Company in Redford Barracks, Edinburgh.
Over the past 3 years 1 SCOTS Pipes and Drums have been in an unprecedented position as a result of the Army 2020 refine and the formation of the Specialised Infantry Group. Due to the nature of the Pipes and Drums and the operational cycle requirements of the companies, it was deemed necessary to remain as one platoon within HQ Coy. Unfortunately this didn’t work well with the structure of a specialised infantry battalion and as a result our numbers began to slowly decrease. After many discussions and exploration of ideas, a tough, but positive decision was made to relocate the Pipes and Drums alongside Balaklava Coy.

Yesterday the Pipes and Drums supported 7 SCOTS Pipes and Drums and The Lowland Band The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Armed Forces Day Stirling.
After a long and busy couple of months globe hopping across Ivory Coast, Addis Ababa, Italy, Turkey, France and many other destinations within the UK, we are now looking forward to some well deserved leave. As always our soldiers need to keep all "fingers and thumbs" on the pulse, as we will soon be back on the big stage assisting The Black Watch Pipes and Drums 3SCOTS on the 2019 The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. 🎶

DISCIPLINE
Doing things properly and setting the right example
All teams need discipline. Discipline is vital in our line of work; it means that orders are carried out and everyone is confident that they will not be let down by their teammates.
Self-discipline is the best form of discipline - doing your job without being told. It depends on high personal standards that will earn you the trust and respect of your teammates. It gives you the courage to make the difficult choices that you will face in your career.
Discipline helps you control fear.

As we reflect back on an amazing and extremely worthwhile week in Normandy some of you may notice that we made this trip without our pipe major, this is because he and his wife were busy bringing a new addition into the world.
As the parents of an amazing baby girl, your life is going to be filled with fun, excitement and all things pink and pretty. We are extremely happy for you both as you start this new chapter of your lives with your new little angel. From all members of the Pipes and Drums we send our best wishes and warmest congratulations!
