Before the 1 SCOTS Colours paraded through Edinburgh for the final time on October 11, there was a service at the memorial at Dreghorn Barracks.

Veterans from The Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Royal Scots, and The King’s Own Scottish Borderers came together to honour those who were killed in action or died of wounds in Afghanistan.

Led by Father Stephen Sharkey, the service included prayers and an Act of Remembrance, offering an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of those who served.

The Colours were later formally retired at Canongate Kirk.

1 SCOTS have been redesignated into the 1st Battalion, The Ranger Regiment which has its own Colours.
