On three floors, the exhibition highlights the building's beautiful craftsmanship and the stories of its famous inhabitants.

Dating back to 1470, and now incorporated into the Scottish Storytelling Centre, John Knox House is one of Scotland's greatest cultural treasures and is associated with the most dramatic events in Scotland's turbulent history. Located in The Netherbow, the halfway point in the Royal Mile and the site of Edinburgh's medieval gateway, the House was the home of James Mossman, goldsmith to Mary Queen

Incredible to see old Edinburgh brought back to life this way.

Lovely picture posted by our friends at Lost Edinburgh. The old house looks the same... but different.

A view of the High Street looking towards John Knox House. Looks like the 1900s. That young lad in the foreground is staring intently at the camera. Wonder what he is carrying.

Another lovely sunset from the window of the Oak Room here at John Knox House. Wonder how this one compares the ones its seen over the last 556 year?

No matter what century someone has looked out one of our windows, the view of the Royal Mile at sunset will always be amazing.

In 1903, W.J. Hay became curator of the John Knox house. He remained here for 40 years. He had quite the lasting legacy, which included the famous Hay postcards and his Penny guide of the Royal Mile. We have created a vintage postcard of the front cover from his Penny guide, which you can now get in our little book shop. We think they are beautiful. Let us know what you think.
