☀☀ Summer Reading Challenge 2026 ☀☀

The sun is coming out and the school holidays are nearly here, and we're ready and waiting to keep your wee ones entertained whilst school is out. We've got a series of special events and crafts for you to make the most of your time!

We're also part of the yearly reading challenge in which kids can get a medal and a badge if they read six books or complete special reading challenges over the summer period. Come and sign up the next time you're in the library to get a bookmark, magazine and the challenge booklet!

Our Librarian's Book of the Month is back and ready for summer! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Sunburn is the debut novel of Chloe Michelle Howarth (she has since released the equally incredible Heap Earth Upon It). It follows the sapphic coming-of-age of Lucy in the 1990s and her voyage of self-discovery.

An amazing q***r novel that will have you aching for a nostalgic summer holiday.

We're starting a new thing!

To go with our Librarians Book of the Month we'll now be doing a Kids Book of the Month as well! This will include a variety of books suitable for children aged 1-12 (We'll let you know who each time!) to give some inspiration for your story time.

This month, in honour of Pride, is Grandad's Pride by Harry Woodgate, an amazing celebration different types of people and families!
