The Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge for 2026 is almost here. This year, one of the prizes that kids can win by completing the challenge at McDonald Road library will be a pin badge that we want your help to design.

Three lucky winners will each win a £10 book token and have their designs used on badges given out to all children who complete this year's challenge with us. The theme for 2026 is 'Read to the Beat' and we're especially excited to see designs based on the joy of music and the power it has to move, inspire and connect us.

We've still got tickets for Wednesday evening's screening (17.30) of two documentaries that shine a light on the hidden realities of endometriosis, exploring chronic pain, women’s health, resilience and lived experience.

The films will be followed by a Q&A session with scientists form the University of Edinburgh.

In partnership with the Edinburgh Medical School, who are marking their 300th anniversary.
