The Scottish and North Irish Yeomanry (SNIY) is an Army Reserve, Light Cavalry Regiment, with locations in Aberdeen, Ayr, Belfast, Coleraine, Cupar, and Edinburgh. The Scottish and North Irish Yeomanry (SNIY) is a Light Cavalry Regiment within the Army Reserve, and it carry's out its role as "Combat Recce". Last night, Army Reserve soldiers from and , hosted HM Lord-Lieutenant of Fife, Mr Robert Balfour, as they marked Reserves Day.

Following a presentation from Capt Ian S, the Lord-Lieutenant met members of the Sqn to gain an insight into what they do within the Army Reserve and their civilian roles.

Following this, he presented Sgt Chris C with a richly deserved Meritorious Service Award.

There then followed a presentation by Wg Cdr Peter E from 612 Sqn RAuxAF in recognition of recent collaborative training.

This weekend, Army Reserve soldiers from , and completed the final phases of the team medic course.

The course, designed to train our people to triage a casualty, stabilise them, and if required move them is deliberately demanding, but also incredibly important, particularly for Lt Cav troops, who typically operate at reach, and in small groups.

This weekend, Army Reserve medics, from , and joined with the tri-service medical community working with the RN Reserve from HMS Scotia and the HQ staff of 612 Squadron RAF Auxiliary.

Led by our RMO, Maj Sarah P, they have been collaborating to develop their understanding of the CBRN threat in the modern world, their aim was to create partnerships and concepts of the care of CBRN casualties both at home and overseas.

Earlier this week, medics from C Sqn, in and were given an opportunity to join 612 Sqn RAuxAF and the 911th Air Wing, USAF, for some combined clinical training.

Enabling them to track a casualties progress from the point of wounding all the way back to a UK hospital.

Seizing the opportunity, our three medics from C saw up close the value of not only the combined arms component, but how international and inter-service collaboration works.

Simultaneously, our JKL crews seized the opportunity to deliver Force Protection of the Landing Zone in partnership with our paired regular Regiment, the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.

Earlier this week, three of our medics from C Sqn, Heather, Hailey and Sarah were given an opportunity to join 612 Sqn RAuxAF and the 911th Air Wing, USAF, for some combined clinical training.

Getting airborne in a C-17, learning about clinical outcomes from the point of wounding to expert care in a UK Hospital.
