Ever wondered what the views look like from the cockpit? 👀🚁

On a beautiful autumn day, Specialist Paramedic Sammy captured this timelapse of the journey from Sheffield Children’s Hospital helipad back to our Nostell Air Support Unit.

From the city of Sheffield, across the Yorkshire countryside and back to base, it’s a pretty spectacular view from up there. 🍂☀️

So, sit back and enjoy the journey with us. 💛

🎂 YAA turns 26 today! And we have one birthday wish… 💛

We’re so close to getting our new Northern Airbase ready for our crew, and we’d love your help to get it over the finish line!

Could you give £26 to help us complete and equip our new base, supporting the crews who deliver lifesaving care across Yorkshire? 🎁

Make our birthday wish come true: https://heyor.ca/JrRIo0 💛

Our new Northern Airbase is almost complete, but there’s still work to do before our crew can call it home.

This purpose-built base will strengthen our lifesaving service across Yorkshire, working alongside our existing airbase at Nostell.

From essential equipment to the final fit-out, your support can help us get over the finish line and prepare for the next patient who needs us.💛

For Fay Bird and her family, the Great North Run has always been about much more than running 13.1 miles. It’s a family tradition - one that has stayed with them through the years, even after moving to New Zealand, and remains a special connection to home, family and the memories they’ve shared. ❤️

At the heart of those memories is Fay and Gracie’s beloved Dad and Grandad, Stephen.

This year, Fay, Gracie, Gail and Jo returned to the Great North Run in his memory, travelling from Plymouth, New Zealand, Belgium and Finland to be together and take part.

While back in Yorkshire, the family also visited our Nostell air base, making their trip even more meaningful. 🚁💛

Together, they’ve raised an incredible £2,600 for YAA, turning a much-loved family tradition into a lasting tribute to Stephen - while helping us be there for other families across Yorkshire when they need us most.

Thank you, Fay and family, for your incredible support. 💛

This week’s was captured by Technical Crew Member Will N during the summer, when our crew was called to an incident at Robin Hood’s Bay.

As an independent charity, with no direct government funding, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to keep our crews responding and our helicopters flying.💛

Help us be there when it matters most. Every donation makes a difference: https://yaa.org.uk/donate/

MEET THE TEAM - Technical Crew Member (TCM) Emma Murphy

Emma joins YAA as a TCM, bringing frontline ambulance experience and a passion for patient care. Originally from Harrogate, she began her career with Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS) as an Ambulance Support Worker apprentice before progressing to work as an Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP).

Inspired by her experiences working alongside ambulance crews and seeing a close family friend receive lifesaving care from YAA, Emma was motivated to join the charity.

Outside of work Emma enjoys Pilates, going to the gym and getting out for lots of walks. She loves going on holiday and exploring new places. Two places on her travel list are Australia and Japan. She also enjoys spending time with her family and her nephew.

Fun fact: Emma once lived in Spain’s Costa Blanca!

Welcome to the YAA family Emma!

We’ve recently introduced the MEQU blood warmer to the equipment carried on both our helicopters and rapid response vehicles.🚁 (Update: this replaces the blood warmers previously used).

Having this equipment means our highly skilled doctors and paramedics can deliver warmed fluids and blood transfusions directly to patients, without having to wait until they reach hospital.

It’s another important way we bring hospital-level care to the patient, as close to the point of injury as possible.

Every piece of equipment plays a vital role in helping our crews deliver the best possible care when patients need it most. 💛
