Evesham Town Council has gifted a donation to all the schools in Evesham to spend on literacy resources.

Cllr. Mrs. Marion Griffiths was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Victoria Reilly, Key Stage 2 Lead, English Lead and Year 3 Teacher to St. Andrew's, CE Primary School, and Nursery and she gave her a guided tour of the school.

Mrs. Reilly said, ' With such a tight budget, we are delighted to have had extra funding from Evesham Town Council for literacy resources. It has been so worthwhile as it has allowed us to buy a set of guided reading books for the children, which allows all of them to have a great immersive reading experience.'

She also added that St Andrew's would like other councillors to visit the school and that the school would like to develop further links with the community.

🎡 Mop Fair Community Ticket Initiative 2026

Evesham Town Council is delighted to launch its first Community Ticket Initiative, helping children from families experiencing financial hardship enjoy the Mop Fair.

🎟️ Complimentary children’s ride tickets are being distributed through local first schools to children eligible for free school meals.

The initiative was suggested by Councillor John Campbell-Muir, with funding for the tickets generously provided by Evesham Town Council and Edward Danter’s Fun Fair, Mop Fair Organiser.

A huge thank you to the local schools involved, who have been extremely supportive and co-operative in distributing the tickets and helping ensure they reach children who will benefit from them most.

We hope this initiative gives more local children the opportunity to enjoy the Mop Fair and creates some happy memories for families in our community. ❤️🎡

All welcome. Just drop in - 20th Oct at the Lighthouse

The Vale of Evesham PCN is developing Community Connections – a new programme of informal, quarterly community events designed to bring local residents and trusted organisations together in one welcoming space.

The first event will focus on financial wellbeing, with organisations who can offer information and support about benefits, debt, housing, employment and food security.

The event is not a formal advice clinic or a day of detailed assessments. Instead, residents will be able to drop in, meet local organisations, ask questions, and find out what support is available

21/09/2026

Wychavon District Council is asking residents , businesses and visitors to have their say on proposals to introduce new powers to help tackle dog fouling and encourage responsible dog ownership across the district.

The consultation period runs until Monday, 5th October 2026 on a proposed Dog Control Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which would give authorised officers clearer powers to respond when dog owners fail to act responsibly in public places.
Dog fouling remains one of the issues most regularly reported to the council. It is unpleasant, can be a health risk, and affects the enjoyment of parks, play areas, streets, and open spaces for everyone.

If introduced, the PSPO would require dog owners to clear up after their dogs and carry a suitable means of doing so. It would also prevent dogs from entering designated play areas and require owners to put their dog on a lead when asked to do so by an authorised officer.

The proposed order would allow the council to issue fixed penalty notices where authorised officers witness dog control offences. The council is now seeking feedback before any decision is made, to make sure the final approach reflects the needs and experiences of local communities.

Cllr Rob Adams, Executive Board Member for Strong Communities, Culture and Sport, said: “We know most dog owners act responsibly, but dog fouling and poor dog control can have a real impact on our communities and the places people use every day.
“These proposals are about keeping public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. We want to hear from residents, dog owners and anyone who uses our parks and open spaces before a decision is made, so I would encourage people to take a few minutes to share their views.”

Residents, dog owners, businesses, and anyone who uses Wychavon’s parks and open spaces are urged to respond before the consultation closes at midnight on Monday, 5 October 2026 . Feedback received will help shape the final proposals before a decision is made.
Do not miss your chance to have your say. Visit www.wychavon.gov.uk/consultations now and help decide how dog control issues should be managed across the district.

Your views are vital to us in providing the best services possible. That's why consultation is important and to share your views and suggestions.
