From learning life-saving road safety skills to celebrating the season of harvest, there’s plenty to discover in this week’s blog!

Mr Bishop catches up with the children at Broadclyst taking part in Bikeability, finding out what they’ve learnt about staying safe on the road and why these skills are so important for their independence and confidence.

He then heads over to Monkerton to join the Year 3 and 4 children for their Harvest Festival, celebrating the season and the children’s contributions to this special school event.

This week’s Headteacher blog

From disco dancing to creative writing, this week’s blog takes us from one lively school event to a quieter classroom, where the power of words takes centre stage!

Mr Bishop catches up with children at last Friday’s school disco before joining a Year 4 writing class to discover what they have been learning. From writing about famous women and exploring nonsense poetry to taking part in the 500 Words competition, there is plenty to inspire their imaginations.

He is also joined by Mr Sills to explore why reading and writing are such important skills, helping children to express themselves, develop their ideas and build strong foundations for the future.

🏐 A fantastic lunchtime netball squad today for our Year 5 children, following their first win against Broadclyst on Monday! 🎉 It was great to see everyone back on court, building on their success, developing their skills and working together as a team. Lunchtime squad sessions are a brilliant opportunity to improve fitness, build confidence, develop communication and teamwork, and show commitment, resilience and sportsmanship — all while having fun! Well done, Year 5! Keep up the great work! 💪👏

🏰✨ Last week, year 5 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Buckland Abbey, where they stepped back in time and explored the fascinating history of this wonderful historic building. They had the opportunity to tour the beautiful grounds and explore inside the abbey, bringing history to life as they discovered what life was like in the past. The children also had great fun trying on clothes from the period and playing traditional games, making it a truly memorable and hands-on learning experience! A wonderful day full of exploration, discovery and fun! 🏰🎭😊

This week’s Headteacher blog

This week, Mr Bishop visits Yeo Valley to catch up with the children on the Eco Committee and finds out what they are doing to care for the environment and make a positive difference in their school community.

He also meets a member of the Netball Club to hear about their plans for the term and their hopes for the upcoming inter-school competitions.

From taking responsibility for the environment to developing sporting skills, teamwork and confidence, it’s great to see the range of opportunities children can enjoy through clubs and activities beyond the classroom.

Watch this week’s Headteacher’s Blog to find out more!
