: Did you know? Devon is home to Westward Ho!, the only place in the entire UK with an exclamation mark in its name. The village was named after a bestselling novel in 1855, and yes, the exclamation mark is officially part of the name!

The village was built after the huge success of Charles Kingsley's novel Westward Ho! and became one of Britain's earliest purpose-built seaside resorts.

Next time you're in North Devon, keep an eye out for the road signs... It's probably the only time you'll see punctuation in a place name! 😄🌊

We are looking for an experienced and influential leader to join Children’s Social Care as our Designated Social Care Officer for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). In this influential role, you'll help shape and strengthen social care's contribution to Devon’s SEND system, working across children’s social care, education, and health to improve outcomes for children, young people, and families.

You'll provide strategic leadership, drive service improvement, influence senior-level decision-making, and ensure high-quality social care input across SEND processes and partnerships.
