The 'Major Incident' taskings were in response to the discovery of unexploded ordnance in the water not far from Pendennis Shipyard. Working with partner agencies, we were committed to the evacuation of the properties and open areas within the 755m cordon that was in force during the movement of the ordnance.

Please see the attached 'Notice to Mariners' detailing a new exclusion zone around the ordnance. This notice is issued by Falmouth Harbour and will remain in force until the device has been disposed of and the yellow mark removed.

A huge effort by all responders.

Our volunteer crews pagers rang out just after midnight on Monday morning.
Falmouth Coastguard had received a call regarding 2 paddleboarders that had launched from Maenporth Beach, but had not reported in since 9.30pm.
Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and HM Coastguard Helicopter 924, from Newquay Airport were also tasked.
Our inshore lifeboat 'Robina Nixon Chard' launched at 12.14am, with the all-weather lifeboat 'Decibel Too' launching three minutes later.
All assets were however stood down at 12.23pm, when the paddleboarders were found safe and well ashore.
Apart from ensuring you have all safety measures with you, lifejackets, leash and a means of communication, if someone is waiting for you, please ensure that you check in regularly, especially once safe ashore.

Friday 17 July 22:52 - Team paged to assist our flank team Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team with a search for a gentleman who had been missing for 12 hours. Thankfully the casualty was found safe and well not long after our team set off. Always great to have a happy outcome - especially at that time of night!

Never underestimate the weather, as Falmouth lifeboat performs its sixth call out in 48 hours.
Under four hours since last being called out, and with our all weather lifeboat still tasked, our volunteer crews pagers sounded again at 2.40pm this afternoon.
The inshore lifeboat, 'Robina Nixon Chard' launched just five minutes later and headed to Maenporth Beach in weakening SE force 3/4 winds.
Falmouth Coastguard had received calls regarding a swimmer in difficulty and were advised that another person had entered the water, carrying a float to try and assist.
Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team had also been tasked.
The lifeboat arrived on scene at 3.10pm, to be informed that the casualty had reached the shore and was now in the care of the Coastguard team.
The lifeboat returned to station by 3.25pm
