Are contractors investing enough in apprentices, or are we creating tomorrow's skills shortage?

Every contractor tells us the same thing:
"We can't find experienced people."

But experienced people don't appear overnight.

They start as apprentices.

If we're only hiring when skills shortages hit, we're always going to be one step behind.

The businesses making the biggest difference aren't waiting for the perfect candidate—they're investing in potential, building their workforce from the ground up, and creating a pipeline of future trades, supervisors, managers and technical specialists.

The question isn't whether you can afford to take on an apprentice.

It's whether you can afford not to.

At Inspire Futures, we're passionate about helping employers turn potential into careers and ensuring the next generation has the opportunity to succeed.

💬 Is your business investing in tomorrow's workforce, or relying on someone else to train it?

Give Bekki a call on 07353 153 144 or email [email protected] for more information.

The Government's new Social Value Model for central government procurement reinforces something we've been saying for a long time - social value should create real opportunities and measurable outcomes, not just satisfy a requirement.

At Inspire Futures, we're already working with clients across the UK to deliver meaningful social value, with a particular focus on supporting NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training) into sustainable careers.

Through apprenticeships, employability programmes, employer partnerships and community engagement, we're helping businesses turn their social value commitments into genuine opportunities that benefit both individuals and local communities.

The Government's renewed focus on creating opportunities for NEETs is a positive step forward, and it's encouraging to see greater emphasis being placed on delivering lasting impact through public procurement.

Social value isn't about promises. It's about creating opportunities that change lives - and that's exactly what we're helping our clients achieve every day.

If you're looking at how your organisation can deliver meaningful social value or maximise the impact of your commitments, we'd love to have a conversation.
