☀️ Hot weather this weekend – stay safe
We’re expecting very warm temperatures across Waverley this weekend, so it’s important to take a few simple steps to stay safe and well.
Here are some helpful tips 👇
💧 Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water throughout the day
🧴 Protect your skin – use sunscreen and wear a hat when outdoors
🏠 Keep cool indoors – close curtains during the hottest part of the day
🚶♀️ Avoid peak heat – limit outdoor activity between 11am–3pm
👵 Check on others – especially older relatives, neighbours and vulnerable people
Never leave children or pets in parked cars 🚗❌
If you feel unwell in the heat, seek advice from NHS 111, and in an emergency call 999.

📣 As the weather warms up, it is tempting to get the BBQ out or build a camp fire but if you are out in one of our greenspaces, please don’t! Especially if you are on one of our heathland sites.
⚠️ BBQs are not allowed in any of Waverley’s parks and countryside sites. In hot weather, BBQs can easily spread into a wildfire and cause harm to our environment and wildlife.
Please be wildfire aware, by:
✅ Disposing of litter in bins or taking litter home with you
✅ Not lighting BBQs or bonfires in our greenspaces
✅ Extinguishing ci******es fully
✅ If you do spot a fire, call 999

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week | 11–18 May
This week, we’re proud to support Mental Health Awareness Week across Waverley and shine a light on the amazing work of some of our partners.
This year’s theme, Action, focuses on the practical steps we can all take to protect and improve mental health.
Good mental health is essential to our wellbeing, our relationships and our communities. As a council, we’re committed to supporting residents by promoting understanding, reducing stigma, and helping people access the right information and support.
This week is about turning awareness into action - checking in with others, starting conversations, and making small changes that can make a real difference.
Because action on mental health matters. You can find details of support available on our website https://ow.ly/Meui50YXzU2
