đ We're delighted to share that South Farnham SCITT has been awarded a Strong Standard across both our Primary and Secondary teacher training programmes in our recent Ofsted report.
The report highlights the quality of our training, mentoring and support, recognising how well we prepare trainees for successful careers in teaching.
"We are reflective, resilient and very well prepared for teaching."
A huge thank you to our trainees, mentors, schools and staff who make this possible every day.

Meet Elliot, a former Surrey South Farnham SCITT trainee whose journey demonstrates how high-quality teacher training can open doors to both leadership and international opportunities.
My training journey with Surrey South Farnham SCITT and later through the Early Career Teacher (ECT) programme was pivotal in shaping my teaching practice and professional growth.
The SCITT provided me with a strong foundation of evidence-informed pedagogy, classroom management, and subject knowledge, while the ECT years gave me the mentoring and structured development needed to refine and embed those skills in practice.
What stood out was the focus on reflective practice and professional dialogue, which gave me the confidence to take on responsibility early in my career. This support and high-quality training prepared me not only to lead science across the school but also to step into my current role as Head of Primary Teaching and Learning, where I am now in my fifth year of teaching (my third in Dubai).
The pathway built by South Farnham has been instrumental in equipping me with the skills, mindset, and resilience to embrace leadership opportunities and to continue developing others.

As we head into the final few weeks of the training year, our trainees are now in school full-time and preparing for their final Teachersâ Standards reviews.
We wanted to take a moment to celebrate our fantastic Guildford County cohort, pictured here enjoying their final Professional Studies training day together. âš
It has been a pleasure to watch the trainees grow in confidence, develop their teaching expertise and embrace every challenge along the way. You're nearly there! We can't wait to see the impact you will make in your future classrooms.
Many thanks to James Prickett Photography for the images.

Teaching and Parenting
For those starting a SCITT teacher training programme this September whilst also caring for children at home, it can bring a mix of excitement and uncertainty.
We wanted to share two online workshops from The MTPT Project this July that may be helpful for anyone preparing to balance teacher training alongside parenting responsibilities:

âą Realistic Expectations
âą Managing Change
The sessions are designed for parents beginning their ITT journey and focus on the realities of the training year, managing change at home and work, and finding approaches that support both family life and professional development.
If youâre about to begin teacher training and wondering how it will all fit together, these workshops may offer some reassurance, practical guidance, and a supportive space to reflect before September. đ

Weâre proud of our excellent network of partnership schools across the South of England. They allow our trainee teachers to train at a school locally to them while receiving a world class training experience
For our weekly SCITT Professional Studies day, trainees are grouped into geographical cohortsâminimising travel and fostering strong peer networksâwhile immersing them in the theory and practice needed to thrive as teachers.
đĄ Train to teach near you. Belong to a supportive community.
