At Supportive, we love hearing how our care helps people to live independently.💜

We recently received a lovely thank-you note from someone we supported following a hip replacement:

“I really appreciate all that the carers have done for me. I know I could not have managed on my own without your help as my family all live away. I now feel much better and able to look after myself.”

Words like these remind us of the difference compassionate care can make. Thank you to our wonderful carers for the kindness and dedication they bring to every visit.

A little nibble, a good natter and time together!☕💜

Our new Nibble & Natter group for staff and volunteers got underway this week, giving our team a chance to take a breather and enjoy a friendly catch-up.

Hosted by the lovely Debbie, our first get-together offered a relaxed, welcoming space to spend time with colleagues and fellow volunteers, share stories and get to know one another a little better.

With busy working days and different roles across Supportive, we don’t always get the opportunity to sit down together. This new group gives our team the time to connect, enjoy some company and have a conversation beyond the day-to-day tasks.

At Supportive, caring for people includes caring for the wellbeing of our own team. Our staff and volunteers give so much to others, and we want them to feel valued, supported and part of a community too. 💜

Global Handwashing Day – 15th October

Clean hands save lives!💙

Good hand hygiene is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help prevent the spread of infections and protect those we care for.

Today, we’re reminding everyone that washing your hands properly and regularly makes a real difference, whether you’re caring for others, supporting a loved one, or simply going about your day. 🫧🙌

Let’s keep our hands clean, stay healthy, and help protect our communities.

Meet the Team — Say hello to Jen! 💜

Jen first joined Supportive as a carer in 2021, before becoming a responder and then moving into the office as a coordinator in 2022. Having worked in several roles, she understands both the care we provide and the organisation that goes on behind the scenes.

After some time away, she returned in September 2025. Now a Care Manager in our Homecare office, Jen makes sure that everything runs smoothly.

“I love my job and being able to support both service users and carers.”

We’re delighted to have you on the team, Jen! Give her a hello in the comments. 👋💜

LET’S TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH💜

Mental health shouldn’t be a difficult conversation.

In care, we support people every day, and that support should extend to our colleagues too.

Let’s create a workplace where it’s okay to say:

“I need a little support today.”
“I’m finding things difficult.”
“Can we talk?”

No judgement. No pressure. Just understanding, kindness and support.

Because sometimes, talking is the first step towards feeling better. 🤝

PROTECT YOURSELF THIS WINTER 💜

At Supportive, caring for others starts with looking after ourselves too. As Autumn arrives, we’re encouraging care workers to get their flu vaccination.

Flu can be serious, particularly for older people and those with certain health conditions. Getting vaccinated helps protect you and the people you support throughout the winter months.

Frontline social care workers are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine. Speak to your local pharmacy for more details and guidance.
