30 August | 11:15

Team tasked alongside RNLI Fishguard Lifeboat D-Class to reports of two windsurfers in difficulty just off Fishguard Fort.

The RNLI D-Class was able to make contact with both people who confirmed they were safe and well, practicing self recovery and training.

False alarm with good intentions.
As always, if in doubt always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

๐Ÿ“Ÿ Shout ๐Ÿ“Ÿ
22 August | 13:22

Team tasked to report of fallen climber near Porth Maenmelyn.

Dyfed-Powys Police, HM Coastguard - St Davids, RNLI Fishguard Lifeboat Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust, and the Wales Air Ambulance Charity were also tasked.

Upon arrival Fishguard Coastguard did an immediate search along the coast path & spoke to the member of the public who had phoned 999. They reported hearing shouting & a person calling for help from the bay below.

RNLI Fishguard D class landed on shore and undertook a thorough search of the area, and could not locate any signs of a climber or person.

The coastguard helicopter also did a thorough search from air & used their thermal imaging system, which also did not locate any signs of a person.

All teams concluded, and agreed, that the sounds the member of the public heard was likely seals and seal pups who were on the shore. The sounds seal make can sound eerily similar to human shouts.

Once all agreed that there was no human danger, we were stood down and returned to station.

If in doubt ALWAYS call 999 and ask for the Coastguard, even if it ends up being a false alarm, thatโ€™s what we are there forโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ“ŸSHOUT๐Ÿ“Ÿ

21st August | 13:33

Team tasked to investigate an object floating in water to the East of Aberfelin, also known as French Camp. A member of the public spotted something unusual in the water and called it in.

Upon locating the floating object, between Aberfelin and Stumble Head, the team concluded that the object was the remains of some marine life and that there was no human risk.

We then returned to station and stood down.

The member of the public did the right thing by calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard, as it enabled us to rule out anything else more dangerous or concerning.

If in doubt, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard!

19th August | 13:48

Team tasked between Aberfforest and Cym Yr Eglwys to an automatic crash / fall SOS alert from a phone.

HM Coastguard - St Davids and RNLI Fishguard Lifeboat D-Class were also tasked, alongside the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter.

Our Fishguard Coastguard team carried out an immediate search of the coast path, with nothing found. However the RNLI D-Class helm alerted us that there was a yacht directly below our what3words location.

The Lifeboat was able to speak directly to the people on board who quickly realised their phone had accidentally sent out the distress signal, but thankfully all aboard were safe and well.

Once establishing everyone was safe, we were stood down and returned to station.

As RNLI Fishguard Lifeboat says, you never quite know what you're going to get on a shout & this was a positive outcome.
