Find out more about becoming a Pembrokeshire County Councillor at next year’s Local Elections

Are you active in your community? Want to make a difference to where you live? Join Pembrokeshire County Council at a special drop-in event to find out more about becoming a County Councillor.

Local Elections will be held across Wales in May 2027 and this event on November 10th is the first planned for those potentially interested in standing to find out more.

It will run 2pm to 6pm at County Hall, Haverfordwest, and offers an informal opportunity for prospective candidates to gain an insight into the role of an elected member and the democratic process.

Visitors will be able to take a guided tour of the Council's meeting facilities, speak directly with existing county councillors about their experiences in office and ask questions about the responsibilities, opportunities and challenges that come with representing local communities.

Staff from the Elections and Democratic Services teams will also be on hand throughout the afternoon to provide practical advice on the nomination process, eligibility requirements and the support available to candidates.

Unable to make this session? Further events will be scheduled for early 2027. If you want to let us know you plan to attend on November 10th or have further queries please email:

The Mayor of Fishguard and Goodwick, Cllr Steve Hughes, has just embarked on his 2 day indoor rowing challenge, raising funds for a wonderful local charity, Paul Sartori. He is intending to row 100km (62 miles), the equivalent distance between Fishguard and Rosslare.
He is taking on this challenge in the foyer of Fishguard Town Hall today and tomorrow, on a rowing machine kindly loaned by Fishguard Sea Cadets. Pop in and give him a cheer if you're in town. If you would like to make a donation:
