A small number of services have changed locations within Wexham Park Hospital to improve the layout and increase the space used for some of our day services.

Any patients and families affected by these changes have been contacted directly and there will be new signage up at the hospital to direct patients and visitors.

- Medical Investigation Day Unit (MIDU) will move to the hospital’s green zone
- Ward 20 will move to the blue zone
- Home Infection Management Service (HIMMS) and Intravenous and Vascular Access Service (IVAS) – will move to the green zone

Apologies for any inconvenience caused by these moves. The changes will help to create a larger space for our IVAS service and will allow us to increase the number of patients we treat in that department in the future.

This week, our Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Team have been out and about across Frimley Health, raising awareness of the important role infection prevention plays in keeping patients, colleagues and our communities safe.

This year’s theme, ‘Generations of Infection Prevention: Past. Present. Protected.’, celebrates what we’ve learned from the past, the practices we strengthen today and how we’re helping to build safer healthcare for the future.

Our IPC Team have been visiting sites across the Trust, getting colleagues involved with educational and fun activities along the way.

💊 Today is World Pharmacy Technician Day

Pharmacy technicians are highly skilled healthcare professionals who help make sure patients receive the right medicines, at the right time, and use them safely. While many people associate them with dispensing medication, their role reaches far beyond this.

Across Frimley Health, pharmacy technicians work in specialist areas including medicines management, clinical trials, homecare services, medicines information, procurement, aseptic services, education and training. They support innovation, improve services, develop our future workforce and help ensure medicines are used safely and effectively across our hospitals.

As we mark this year's theme,"Bold tradition. Lasting impact", we're celebrating the expertise, professionalism and dedication of our pharmacy technicians, whose work makes a difference to patients, colleagues and healthcare services every single day.

Thank you to all our pharmacy technicians for the lasting impact you have across our Trust. 💙

🚭 This Stoptober, we’re continuing our work towards a smokefree Frimley Health.

We know that seeing people smoking on our hospital sites can be frustrating, particularly when we ask patients and visitors not to smoke. That’s why we’re taking positive steps to support our colleagues, as well as our patients, to quit.

Following our recent Bin the Butt event, which brought local stop smoking services onto site to offer advice and support, our To***co Team is taking Stoptober directly onto wards at Frimley Park and Wexham Park hospitals.

Throughout October, the team will be helping colleagues build their knowledge of smoking cessation, ni****ne replacement therapy and referrals, so they feel better equipped to support patients who smoke. They’ll also be there to help members of staff who would like support to quit themselves.

Our executive team has also renewed its commitment to the NHS Smokefree Pledge, with our Chief Executive signing the new Pledge for a Smokefree UK.

Creating smokefree hospital sites is about helping people who smoke access the right support to make a change. 💙

As we mark International Adolescent Health Week (12-19 October), we're shining a spotlight on the experiences of young people as they navigate the move from children's to adult healthcare services.

Moving from children's to adult healthcare services can be a significant step, bringing new responsibilities and experiences at an already important time in a young person's life.

The Frimley Health Youth Forum provides a space for young people aged 11-25 to share their experiences, ideas and perspectives, helping us better understand what matters most to them. Their insights influence service improvements and ensure healthcare is designed with young people, not just for them.

By listening to and working alongside young people, we're helping to create services that are more responsive, inclusive and better suited to the needs of the next generation.

Interested in finding out more about the Youth Forum? We'd love to hear from you. 💙

This we're encouraging everyone to learn CPR and gain lifesaving skills. Restart a Heart is an annual initiative led by multiple organisations which aims to increase the number of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by helping more people learn CPR.

For more, visit British Heart Foundation, Resuscitation Council UK or
https://revivr.bhf.org.uk/

When someone has a cardiac arrest, every second counts.

Ahead of Restart a Heart Day on 16 October, learn 6 simple steps that could help save a life. ❤️

1️) If safe to approach and you find someone unconscious, call 999 immediately.
2️) Assess the person to see if they are breathing.
3) Start chest compressions if they are unresponsive and not breathing normally.
4) Continue CPR until a defibrillator arrives and is switched on and attached to the person.
5) Follow the instructions from the defibrillator or emergency call handler.
6) Keep giving chest compressions until the ambulance arrives.

You can put your skills into practice with RevivR, our free online CPR training tool. In just 15 minutes, you can learn the lifesaving skills that could help someone survive a cardiac arrest.
