We are excited to announce our first open contemporary dance class at St Mary's by the Tyne!

When: Fri 26 Nov 6.30 until 8pm
How much? ÂŁ11 per person
For: Adults 18+
Level: Beginners / improvers

Join Cora Jay for a welcoming 90-minute introduction to contemporary technique and choreography, bringing together people from a range of movement backgrounds to learn, explore and dance together.
We'll begin with a mobility-based warm-up, explore roll-downs and plies, then travel across this beautiful space with jumps before bringing everything together in a choreographic movement phrase.

We'll move through the exercises at a steady pace, with time to practise phrases together, learn from one another and receive individual support when needed.
Building confidence and community is at the heart of the class, a chance to meet new people, make connections and enjoy moving together.

The class will be filmed and photographed. If you'd
prefer not to be included, please get in touch beforehand.

Spaces are filling up for this talk by Newcastle Prison A History on Wednesday 21.10 at 6pm! As the evenings draw in, its the perfect time of year to take in our region's history in one of its oldest surviving buildings...

The talk explores the remarkable and tragic story of Jane Jamieson, taking us inside Keelmen's Hospital as it was almost 2 centuries ago and offering us a glimpse into the lives of people who lived there.

Head to the events page on twbpt.org.uk to find out more and book your FREE place 🎟

Here is a little snapshot in to the history of our beautiful building. Have you seen our beautiful model of St Mary’s? We always show our potential wedding couples this model made by local resident Harry Bulmer of Swallwell so they get some insight in to how St Mary’s looked in years gone by.
*
It depicts how St Mary's by the Tyne formally St Mary’s Church looked before some of it was unfortunately destroyed by fire in 1979 & deconsecrated.
*
The model was made from matchsticks by local mining engineer Harry who loved St Mary’s so much he spent 3 years building this beautiful replica.
*
It is usually on proud display in the Nave but it does get safely tucked away sometimes during events however our staff will be more than happy to show you it & it can be viewed on request.
