Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) is an award winning social enterprise and Community Interest Company (CIC) established in 2011. We were originally formed from the services directly provided by NHS Medway and have a strong history of partnership working with a number of local stakeholders including Medway Council, Medway Maritime Hospital, local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), NHS England and many more. We're a ÂŁ59 million business with over 1,300 staff and as a social enterprise, we are free to invest any profit we make into further improving our services, and into our local communities. We're incredibly proud of what we do, and all of our achievements reflect the passion, dedication and commitment demonstrated by our staff across all services. These qualities are borne out of our values:
- Working in partnership
- Delivering quality and value
- Being caring and compassionate

These values underpin everything we do with our staff, patients and commissioners of our services. We work together to ensure that we deliver a consistently high quality patient experience, and strive towards our vision of a successful, vibrant community interest company, that benefits the communities we serve. Our purpose it to provide community health and social care services principally across Medway and the surrounding areas.

From 28 September 2026, the MedOCC GP Out of Hours Service will no longer be based at Medway Maritime Hospital.

If you need to access a GP after your own surgery has closed, please continue to call NHS 111. Your needs will be assessed and you will be directed to the most appropriate service.

If your call is transferred to the GP Out of Hours Service, you will receive a telephone consultation from a MedOCC clinician.

Following this assessment, if a face-to-face appointment is clinically required and agreed, you will be offered an appointment at MCH House, Bailey Drive, Gillingham.

Please note that Medway Maritime Hospital will continue to provide an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) alongside the Emergency Department.

Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) and Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) are coming together as one organisation from Thursday, 1 October.

As part of this change, the MCH page will close from midnight on Wednesday, 30 September, with future updates shared through KCHFT's channels.

We've loved having you as followers of this page and hope you’ll continue the journey with us. To keep up-to-date with local community health services, please follow KCHFT’s social media channels:

Over time, you may notice letters, appointment information and other communications carrying the KCHFT name and logo as we come together as one organisation.
