Join us on 7 May for our next Research Culture Café!
Research Culture Café: Climate justice and just transition🌟
The Sir Alex Ferguson Library at GCU will be hosting a Research Culture Café in our Relax and Renew space.
📅Thursday May 7
⏰11:00am - 12:00pm
📍Relax & Renew space
This month's speaker is Sennan Mattar of the School of Science and Engineering (SSE). Sennan will be talking about his research on climate justice and just transition.
Examples of this work include:
➡️The impacts of climate change on slums in Zambia
➡️The recovery from Cyclone Amphan in Bangladesh
➡️Decarbonisation in Scotland
Research Culture Cafés are a relaxed opportunity for GCU staff and students, and members of the public to meet and to talk about research at GCU. Speakers give a short talk and then lead a discussion about their area of research.
Research Culture Cafés are part of the 'Collaboration and Innovation' strand of GCU's Research Culture and Environment Strategy, and aim to create a safe space for sharing ideas and feedback for researchers from diverse perspectives, which we hope will help foster novel approaches to problem solving and innovation.
When you arrive at the café, we invite you to simply relax, and enjoy the conversation and refreshments💙

Trimester B exams have started! Let's make sure you are prepared for each one🤝
Students are reminded that you must bring your student ID card to your exams as you will be asked to show this to the invigilator before the start of the exam.
You may not be able to sit the exam if you don't have your student ID card with you or will lose valuable time during the exam whilst being sorted💳
Keep it somewhere safe and make sure you have it with you! Good luck everyone🍀

Our wonderful library assistants Nicola, Amy and Kristen have contributed to our display celebrating Le***an Visibility Week.
Le***an Visibility Week say:
"Our theme for LVW 2026 is: Health and Wellbeing.
For the past six years, LVW has supported our community through an unbelievably tough time, bringing vital attention to the experiences, perspectives and needs of those we represent. Our aims remain clear: to build public understanding of LGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people’s lives, to increase le***an visibility and to create a legacy that benefits our community everywhere."
