We manage 1.4 hectares of meadow and woodland (500 trees) in the heart of Glasgow. Nor have they ever picked fruit from an orchard tree or understand compost.

The North Kelvin Meadow is a community group set up on 13 October 2008 to manage the green space between Clouston Street , Sanda Street and Kelbourne Street (G20 – North Kelvin Ward within Glasgow, Scotland). Also within this land which we mange is: a community orchard of 30 fruit trees, 2 tree houses, 2 mud kitchens for young kids, 3 compost bins (including the big wooden Number 1 in the far Kelb

Disappointed to find ex- Christmas trees dumped on us again. In case it is not obvious: these dead trees will not make the land better or benefit wildlife or nature in any way. We are a very small charity with only two part time staff, trying to look after the land as best as we can, running sessions with nurseries, schools, volunteers and the wider community. Having to spend time to sort out random peoples’ Christmas trees is an unfair and sad expectation thrown at us. We simply do not have the time or capacity to do this. 😧 thanks to all those who take their tree to the recycling places offered by GCC.

Alot of work clearing the leafs from the surrounding pavements. They need cleared as the street drains can't deal with this volume and it really helps the prams and wheelchairs that nurseries, familes and special needs schools use. 😊😊

Cleaned the street bin, both outside and inside, on Kelbourne street recently. Killed 6 rats in the process. They had come in via the holes you see. So 6 less in the wood now (terrible to do but had to be done) . Broke the broom.

If your wondering what all the noise is this morning on the vacant land beside the Happy Park on Kelbourne street then its the construction company beginning to clear the site of vegetation. Its believed the building work of the 7 story student accommodation will take approx 60 weeks. The portacabins will probably be sited on Kelbourne street but no signage so far....

The CCTV tower shown will go up today to help secure the site , until a more permanent CCTV security system is installed in a month.

The Rats currently living there will start to move in the next week or so. Just saying! So be sure your back court bin areas are clean with no food on the ground or they may make that their new home!

Imagine getting up one morning and deciding to clean the moss and dirt off the QMD bridge wall! Then another day to do the same off some brick work near the Happy Park. On with the knee pads and over a dozen bags filled. Well thats what a local guy did called Iain, very well done to you. Thanks
