Creating Positive Opportunity

Our mission is: To motivate, educate, inform & inspire

CPO is a social enterprise which specialises in creating positive opportunities for the local community. As an organisation we focus on social regeneration through training and up-skilling those members of the community that are seen as ‘hard to reach’, who suffer from social exclusion due to their location, age, or social and financial situation. Our main aim is to improve the employability prospects of our clients but our support is very holistic and person-centred, meaning that we will offer advice and guidance on whatever each individual wants support with. We currently work with excluded pupils, adult community members who won’t engage with traditional learning, and NEETs – including lone parents.

🎃🧡 WHAT A WAY TO END HALF TERM!!🧡🎃

Our young people turned up in some absolutely terrifying Halloween costumes 👻, showed off their strength in an epic tug of war 💪, publicly HUMILIATED their parents by spilling all their dodgy little secrets during an open mic session 🤣🙈 and then finished the day with one MASSIVE FOAM PARTY!! 🫧🎉

But on a slightly more serious note... ❤️

We put on these events so children can have fun, make friends, build confidence, learn new skills and know there's always someone there to support them when they need it.

But do you know what? These kids give us just as much in return!! 🥹❤️

They're polite, hilarious, engaging, kind and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. They make us laugh, keep us on our toes and give us every excuse to be the biggest bunch of goofballs going!! 🤪

We might be the adults organising the fun, but trust us, we get just as much out of these sessions as they do!

We're incredibly lucky to have such an amazing bunch of young people at CPO Youth. ❤️

Despite the stormy weather, nothing was going to stop our CPO Dementia Group from enjoying their much-anticipated Lunch Club at the Rock Foundation on Monday! 🌦️❤️

It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout, with everyone arriving ready to enjoy good food, great company, and plenty of conversation. The lunch club provides an important opportunity for people living with dementia and their carers to come together, build friendships, share experiences, and enjoy a supportive community environment.

A huge thank you to the Rock Foundation for their warm welcome and hospitality. Days like these remind us how important social connections are, and how a little bad weather certainly can't dampen the spirit of this amazing group!

Day 3 of half term and our CPO young golfers headed over to Grimsby Golf Club!

We had the opportunity to meet with Malcolm and tell him just how much his incredibly generous donation of golf memberships has meant to our young people.

But Malcolm wasn't finished there. After sharing his own journey into golf, he made an AMAZING commitment to continue funding memberships for those who regularly attend and want to keep playing beyond their first year!

WOW! JUST WOW!❤️

This isn't just about removing the initial financial barrier to a sport often considered expensive. It's about giving young people a future in golf without families having the financial worry of keeping their children involved.

We also heard from Stephen Ryder and PGA Golf pro David Sanders, who spoke passionately about the importance of our community golf development programme and the incredible impact of everyone pulling together.

A huge thank you to Grimsby Golf Club for embracing our young people and helping us turn what once seemed impossible into something achievable!

💚 Barriers are being broken.

❤️ Young people are being given opportunities they never thought were possible!

This is what happens when a community believes in its younger generation.

THIS IS GRIMSBY! THIS IS COMMUNITY SPIRIT! THIS IS CPO YOUTH!

To Malcolm, Grimsby Golf Club and everyone backing our journey, we cannot thank you enough.

Because this was never just about golf. It's about belonging, opportunity and showing our young people that they deserve a place at the table… or in this case, on the fairway!!

The last couple of weeks have been very busy at CPO!
💚 World Mental Health Day 💚
This year's theme focuses on the importance of self-help and general wellbeing, following feedback from the Mental Health Strategy Refresh. People told us they wanted opportunities to talk and connect but can sometimes feel intimidated by traditional market stall events.
To bring services and communities together in a more welcoming way, a range of organisations joined forces to promote wellbeing, support and connection.
We were especially proud of our students, who created a fantastic Wellbeing Wheel designed to encourage self-reflection and positive wellbeing. As a recognition of their creativity, dedication and hard work, they were presented with a special gift.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. Together, we're creating more opportunities for people to connect, support one another, and prioritise their mental wellbeing. 💚

🎃👻 HALF TERM HAS OFFICIALLY KICKED OFF IN STYLE! 🎃 👻

Our CPO Youth kids love the Crazy Crew so much that they asked for him to come back… and of course, we couldn't say no!

What better way to kick off our Halloween half-term fun than a PJ party packed with music, games, laughter and plenty of craziness! 🪩🥳

Safe to say, we're all well and truly gamed out (staff included! 😂), but what a brilliant start to the week!

Huge thanks to the Crazy Crew for bringing the energy once again! 🙌

So naturally, a PJ party was a must for our half-term activities! 🎉

We're not saying we planned the whole event around being able to come to work in our pyjamas… but we're not denying it either! 🤣❤️

A productive day at the CPO allotment! 🌱🐔

We welcomed Dan Humphrey to our allotment today to connect and explore opportunities for sharing excess homegrown produce with local food banks.

We love the idea that what we grow could go beyond our allotment gates and help support people in our wider community. After all, what's the point in growing more than we need when we could be putting it to good use?

Of course, we couldn't have Dan visiting without roping him into a bit of community work while he was there! 😂🔨

It's been a real team effort today, with everyone getting stuck in, and we're pleased to say our chicken coop is now fully secured and ready to welcome some new feathered residents! 🐔
