We're really pleased to share that Land Hero has been nominated for the Global PropTech Awards next Tuesday for the Sustainability Award.

This recognition means a lot to us at Land Hero. We have always focused on building solutions that not only identify unused buildings, but also support more sustainable outcomes across the industry.

We're grateful to be part of that conversation alongside so many others, and it's encouraging to see sustainability continuing to take centre stage in PropTech.

Looking forward to the event and thank you to London PropTech Show for this opportunity.

Why Urban Stewardship Matters more then Rural Stewardship, Celebrating our Land Heroes During National Empty Homes Week.

When we talk about caring for land, most people picture sweeping rural landscapes, forests, fields, rolling hills, and conservation of nature far from the chaos of cities. But what about the land right where most of us live, work and build communities? What about the empty homes, neglected plots and under-utilised spaces within our cities?

Cities are living ecosystems of their own, they house families, small businesses and community life. When homes sit empty for years, they become more than just vacant buildings, they become lost opportunity. Every unused home is a space that could provide shelter, community stability, economic opportunity and pride of place

Our Land Heroes are urbanists, people dedicated to improving the places where most of us live. Smart sustainable land care…

- Revitalises neighbourhoods
- Reduces blight and crime
- Increases affordable housing options
- Supports local businesses
- Preserves community character

Turning neglected spaces into vibrant places requires the collaboration of local councils, architects, residents, landowners and charities. It isn’t about diminishing the importance of rural protection but about recognising that our cities are fundamental to our social, economic and cultural wellbeing.

This National Empty Homes Week…
Let’s appreciate the urbanists who see potential where others see vacancy. The people who find opportunity in overlooked places and shine a light on the UK’s empty and derelict buildings.

The Comeback of the City: Why Urban Renewal is Reshaping Communities...

Cities are constantly evolving, but when neighbourhoods decline due to economic shifts, ageing infrastructure or population changes, they can lose their vibrancy, identity and value.

Urban revival is an approach to regenerating declining urban areas by combining physical improvements, economic development, community engagement and cultural preservation. When done well, it can transform struggling neighbourhoods into thriving, sustainable communities while increasing long term investment potential.

As Land Heroes, identifying these properties is essential in supporting the idea of urban revival and spreading awareness about the impacts of turning empty buildings into community assets this National Empty Homes Week!

Its National Empty Homes Week 2026!

In total over 1 million homes in England will stand unoccupied tonight, meaning that 1 in every 25 homes are empty. With homelessness at an all time high and thousands of others struggling to finding affordable housing, National Empty Homes week is here to highlight the fact that the problem with wasting housing is getting worse day by day.

However, this allows opportunities to arise in the regeneration of empty and derelict properties. Instead of constantly building new homes on a finite amount of land, focusing on retrofitting and reusing the homes we already posses in high demand areas can provide a more sustainable and cost-effective solution.

For context, recycling 100 empty homes costs substantially less in carbon emissions that building 100 new ones, and retrofitting empty homes provides communities with safer, warmer homes that are more sustainable and cheaper to live in.

At Land Hero we want to support National Empty Homes Week by spreading awareness and bringing light to the challenges caused by the wastage of existing buildings. This supports our long-term objectives and our social and environmental goals, recognised by Property Week who have shortlisted us for their social impact initiative category at the RESI Awards!

Empty Homes Cost Communities, National Empty Homes Week: 09th -15th March 2026

Next week marks the start of National Empty Homes Week, a UK wide initiative shining a spotlight on the millions of homes that remain unused for long periods, often blighting communities, attracting anti-social behaviour and representing a missed opportunity for housing, regeneration and sustainability.

At Land Hero, we’re on a mission to change the problems associated with wasting buildings. Our community of Land Heroes are dedicated to identify empty and derelict properties, the first step in bringing them back into productive use and to support the regeneration of neighbourhoods.

How you can help next week…
- Spread awareness on National Empty Homes Week via social media platforms
- Report empty properties using the Land Hero app
- Support Action on Empty Homes who lead the campaign nationally.
- Support other companies with similar objectives like Empty Homes Network, Finders International and Ad Hoc Management.

Let’s make this week count!

Huge News for Small High Streets! We don't see derelict, we see potential.

At Land Hero, we believe neglected spaces hold the hidden potential to create a sustainable future across the nation. Their regeneration helps to solve some of the UK's most persistent urban challenges including the housing crisis, sense of pride in areas and the protection of greenspace by preventing building on untouched land for new homes.

Being shortlisted for the social impact initiative category at the RESI Awards is a huge honour for us at Land Hero. We wouldn't be where we are today without the input and support of our Land Hero community, their hard work submitting empty properties has played a vital role in helping to eliminate the presence of empty properties in the UK.

We also would like to thank Property Week for selecting us as a finalist and for recognising all that we try to achieve as a business in terms of our social impact objectives.

We believe that this recognition, while a huge milestone for Land Hero, isn't about us but about the bigger picture. The forgotten high streets, empty shops and the communities that deserve regeneration.
