We're looking for a dedicated, caring and motivated individual to join our fantastic Sixth Form team at The Crossley Heath School.

This is an important role supporting our students' attendance, wellbeing and safeguarding, helping them feel supported, achieve their potential and thrive during their Sixth Form journey.

We're looking for someone who can build positive relationships with students, families and staff, bringing empathy, resilience and excellent communication skills to the role.

📌 Role: Post 16 Attendance and Safeguarding Officer
🕒 Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only + 10 days
📅 Start Date: As soon as possible

🔬🧫 Creative Science in Year 7! 🧫🔬

Our Year 7 students have been getting creative in their Science lessons with Mrs Usman, bringing their learning about cells to life!

A special well done to Alis and Noah, who have produced some fantastic cell models, showing great imagination, attention to detail and an understanding of what they've been learning in class.

It's wonderful to see our students taking such pride in their work and finding creative ways to explore science.

Remembering Noel Broome: a remarkable musical legacy

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Noel Broome, a former pupil of Heath Grammar School. Noel remained immensely proud of his connection to our school’s heritage, and we are honoured to celebrate his extraordinary life and musical career.

Noel attended Heath Grammar School between 1943 and 1951, where his musical journey was already beginning. Our school archives include a programme from May 1950 which records Noel playing the viola in the school orchestra – a lovely glimpse into the beginnings of a remarkable career.

After studying at the Royal Manchester College of Music, Noel went on to perform with the Hallé Orchestra under Sir John Barbirolli before joining the orchestra at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Throughout his career, he performed alongside celebrated musicians including Maria Callas, Yehudi Menuhin and Paul Tortelier. He also performed for the Royal Family and physicist Stephen Hawking, and was a founding member of the Northern Sinfonia, now known as Royal Northern Sinfonia.

Alongside his orchestral work, Noel was passionate about chamber music, teaching and writing about music, sharing his knowledge and love of music throughout his life.

From playing viola in his school orchestra in Halifax to performing in some of the world’s great concert halls, Noel leaves a remarkable musical legacy. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends at this sad time.

Rest in peace, Noel. You will always be part of our school’s history.

Today saw one of our biggest House events of the year - our iconic swimming gala!

This year’s competition couldn’t have been closer, with literally just one point separating first and second place!

We’re delighted to announce that this year’s winners are… QUEENS! Closely followed by Savile in second place. What a competition!

Well done to everyone who took part and gave it their all. It was fantastic to see such brilliant team spirit, camaraderie and House pride on show throughout the event.

The Swimming Gala is always one of the highlights of the school year, and what a fabulous way to round off the half term.

DID YOU KNOW our Sri Lanka Sports Tour is open to prospective Sixth Form students, too?

An unforgettable sporting adventure awaits! In February 2028, we're planning a Senior Netball and Cricket Tour to Sri Lanka, giving students the opportunity to represent Crossley Heath internationally, compete against local teams and experience an incredible new culture.

What's in store?

- International netball or cricket matches against local teams
- An exciting safari experience
- A visit to a turtle hatchery
- Exploring Colombo and experiencing Sri Lankan culture
- Building friendships, developing sporting skills and making memories to last a lifetime

This opportunity is open to you, too! We're inviting prospective students who are passionate about netball or cricket to express their interest in joining us for this exciting tour.

YEAR 7: SING WITH THE BAND - POSTPONED

We're really sorry to share that, due to staff illness, our Year 7 Sing With the Band event scheduled for this evening has sadly had to be postponed.

Everyone involved should have been contacted directly, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We're looking forward to welcoming our Year 7 performers to the stage as soon as we can, so please watch this space for details of the new arrangements.

🚀🌕 One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Year 10! 🌕🚀

Our Year 10 Astronomy students have been reaching for the stars this week as they explored the incredible Apollo missions to the Moon!

As part of their lesson on Tuesday, students were tasked with researching and delivering presentations on different Apollo missions, exploring everything from the mission objectives and astronauts involved to the journey itself and the discoveries that helped shape future space exploration.

The quality of the presentations was fantastic, with students demonstrating excellent research skills, confidence and some brilliant public speaking!

It's wonderful to see our students sharing their knowledge with such enthusiasm and bringing the history of space exploration to life.

Well done, Year 10! 🌟👏💜
