The Thomas Freke and Lady Norton Trust wishes to encourage young people living in Hannington and Hannington Wick as they move on to further education or training. To do this, the trustees are prepared to consider grants of up to £250 per person per year, to help with some of the expenses that inevitably arise when young people move on to further education or training. Applications will be considered from anyone aged 16, 17 or 18 joining a recognised teaching or training institution, or other institution, or apprenticeship employer.

The Parish Council is seeking the views of residents on whether there is support for road safety measures within the existing 30-mph areas of the parish.

Dependant upon the survey results, the Parish Council will consider whether to move forward a request to Swindon Borough Council.
Due consideration will be given to the number of responses, areas and type of schemes favoured, along with any costs and timelines for such schemes before any request is submitted.

With several new community groups and a village website recently established, Hannington Parish Council would like to clarify that it has no operational or financial involvement in the Hannington Action Group, Friends of Hannington, or the Hannington Village website. These groups are entirely independent, and any questions about their activities should be directed to them.

The Parish Council has not taken part in commercial ventures or fundraising campaigns run by external groups. Council funds are raised solely through the precept and managed in accordance with strict statutory financial regulations. Any external funding offered to the Council would be subject to the same rules. Annual audited accounts are available on the Parish Council website, and financial updates are given at each bi-monthly meeting (published with the agenda and draft minutes). As a smaller authority, the Council follows the Transparency Code 2015 and is committed to openness in all its undertakings.

The Parish Council will continue to only share updates to those who have subscribed to their email list on www.hanningtonparishcouncil.gov.uk and via this page.

A message from the Freke & Norton Charity
Dear Residents,
As many of you will know, the Freke and Norton Charity owns the community orchard and field. We’re very fortunate to have this lovely green space in the village, and we’ve always wanted to keep it unlocked and freely accessible for everyone in the community to enjoy.
Sadly, over the last few weeks we’ve had a few reports of fly-tipping and dog mess being left in the field. We know that the vast majority of people who use the field take great care of it, and we’re very grateful for that.
We’d just like to ask everyone, particularly those walking their dogs, to please help us keep the field clean and pleasant for others. There is a dog waste bin just outside the gate, so please do pick up after your dog and use the bin provided.
We really don’t want to have to restrict access to the field because of the actions of a small number of people. It’s there for the whole community to enjoy, and with everyone’s help we hope it can continue to be an open, welcoming space for many years to come.
Thank you for helping us look after it and for being considerate of everyone who uses and enjoys the field.
Warm wishes,
The Freke and Norton Charity
