Well put.

🤦🏻‍♀️ Another Budget; the same old problems.

Short-term sticking plasters won’t fix Britain’s economic problems.

We need growth, closer ties with Europe, and a tax system that gives working people a fairer deal.

Time to think bigger?

📣 Harrogate’s Tom Gordon MP, is calling for stronger action on sewage pollution in our waterways, after joining campaigners at the River Nidd, Knaresborough.

The upcoming Clean Water Bill is an opportunity to tighten legislation on sewage dumping in our rivers, lakes and seas, as well as holding water companies accountable for their actions.

The Liberal Democrats policy on clean water is about ending sewage pollution and putting people and the environment first. We will:

✅ End sewage pollution with tougher laws and clear targets.
✅ Hold polluters to account with stronger regulation and penalties.
✅ Put people before profits by reforming failing water companies.
✅ Restore our waterways through better monitoring and investment.

🤨 Years of Tory promises, but where’s the progress?

North Yorkshire Council’s own figures reveal that 60% of the reduction in electricity emissions came from a cleaner national grid, not the council’s own actions. Meanwhile, direct emissions from council buildings and vehicles actually increased by 1.6%.

Cllr Steve Mason North Yorks Council - Ampleforth & Amotherby Division said:

"This year brought the risks into focus. It is certain that our health, money in our pockets, and the very place we love will all be impacted.

"The choice is now. North Yorkshire Council can embrace and lead the journey to a thriving future by taking this seriously, or not.

"I say we choose people and planet over political platitudes."

⏰ The climate crisis won’t wait for politicians to catch up. North Yorkshire needs real action, not greenwash.

🚽 Toilet talk! Keeping our public facilities open and accessible.

From tackling vandalism to improving facilities, North Yorkshire Lib Dems are working to keep essential public services available for residents and visitors.

Cllr Hannah Gostlow’s recent site visit to Conyngham Hall Car Park saw new toilet doors being installed, helping improve access and deter further vandalism.

It might not be glamorous, but it matters!

Just back from a site visit to our public toilets (I know, glamorous! 😄) and a catch-up with Steve and Simon, who are responsible for managing 93 public toilets across North Yorkshire!

We were grateful for the chance to discuss the vandalism at our facilities over recent weeks, and really pleased to see the new doors being installed at the Conyngham Hall Car Park toilets today.

We hope the new doors will help address some of the access issues and deter further vandalism. The new ventilation panels should make a difference too.

Thank you to Steve and Simon for taking the time to meet with us and for all the work that goes into keeping these important facilities available for residents and visitors alike 💛

Every child deserves to feel understood 🫶

ADHD and neurodiversity education can help children understand themselves and others, challenge stigma, and create more inclusive classrooms where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Too many neurodivergent children face misunderstanding when what they need is acceptance, understanding and the right support.

That’s why we’re encouraging people to sign this petition calling on the Government to make age-appropriate ADHD and neurodiversity education a requirement in all schools.

Councillor Di Keal from Norton & Malton FOCUS said:

"This is such an important subject that absolutely deserves to be debated by the government.

"For too long children living with ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions have been written off by the system.

“We believe that every single child should be given the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that recognises and celebrates different ways of thinking.

"Please sign and share this important petition".

✍️ Sign the petition here, and help make understanding and inclusion part of every child’s education 👉 https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/781934

We want the Government to require schools to provide age-appropriate education in every school about ADHD and neurodiversity, to help reduce stigma, improve inclusion and ensure all children, staff and parents are educated about these conditions.
