🎉 WE RAISED £300 FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT! 🎉

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our Macmillan Coffee Morning at Haslingden Community Link today! 🥰

Thanks to your generosity and support, we managed to raise an incredible £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support! 💚

We couldn’t have done it without the kindness of our wonderful local community and businesses who generously donated some fantastic raffle prizes!

After listening to feedback, we have made some changes to our Rediscovering Me course.
We would now like to invite people who are grieving following the death of a person with dementia, but also carers who are experiencing feelings of loss and grief following a full-time care home placement of their loved one. We understand that when a caring role changes in this way, many people can be left feeling unsure of their place, their purpose, and what comes next.
Rediscovering Me offers a supportive space to reflect, connect with others who understand, and begin exploring life beyond the caring role.

🎃🔧 REPAIR CAFÉ — HALLOWEEN EDITION! 👻☕

Something slightly strange is happening at Rossendale Men's Shed this October…

Our next Repair Café lands ON HALLOWEEN! 🎃

📅 Saturday 31st October
⏰ 10am – 2pm
📍 Rossendale Men's Shed – The Link Centre, Haslingden

And we're giving this one a little Halloween twist…

🧟 We've challenged our volunteers to turn up in fancy dress.

👻 We're inviting visitors to bring the kids along in theirs too.

🍬 There'll be treats waiting…

😈 …and possibly a few tricks.

But underneath the cobwebs, questionable costumes and whatever Bodge-It Corner decides to unleash, it's still very much our Repair Café.

Bring along those little jobs you've been meaning to sort and let our volunteers have a look.

🚲 Bikes
🧵 Clothing & sewing repairs
🔌 Small electrical items
🪑 Small furniture repairs
🔧 General bits, bobs & “can you have a look at this?” jobs

As always, we'll repair what we can, offer advice where we can't, and hopefully stop a few more things unnecessarily ending up in the bin.

No promises that the repairer won't be dressed as Dracula. 🧛😂

Repair. Reuse. Have a brew. And this month… get spooky.

Fancy dress isn't compulsory for visitors — but if you or the little ones want to join in, we'd absolutely love to see it. 🎃👻

A new DWP Youth Hub is launching in Rossendale, offering support for 16–24-year-olds with work, training, education and wellbeing.

There’ll be practical, one-to-one support to help build confidence, develop skills, explore volunteering and work experience, and work out what comes next.

Support will be available through Futures Park in Bacup, with further opportunities at the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden.

The Futures Park programme runs Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am–3pm.

⚠️ Urgent recall: Primark Halloween Gonks

Primark is recalling two Halloween gonk decorations because the sand sealed inside them may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos.

Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure.

The recall affects the Witch Mini Gonk (model 991174794) and Pumpkin Gonk (model 991179148).

If you have one of the affected products, stop using it immediately and follow Primark’s instructions for its safe disposal and return.
