๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Election Week ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

Pupils are invited to stand as members of the Prestigious Junior Leadership Team. This year, we will be selecting a representative from each class in the school. They will be responsible for supporting pupil voice by sharing ideas and providing feedback.

For pupils that would like be considered, they must write a speech to share with their class about why they would be a good representative and how they could contribute to the development of the school.

The children will listen to each speech over the next few days in their classrooms and decide who they think will be the best person for the job. We have been helping the children understand the meaning of Democracy and encouraging them to vote for the person who they feel will represent their views and ideas well.

Candidates are welcome to campaign for votes ahead of our election on Thursday.

Good luck everyone ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ’™

The penultimate week of Term 1 โœ…

It has been wonderful to see so many of our parents and carers in school this week for consultations. This is a lovely opportunity to hear how your child has settled in to the new school year and celebrate the great start they have made. We look forward to seeing those with meetings this week to continue these positive conversations ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

We are now heading in to our final week of term and reflecting on all we have learned over the 8 week period. Itโ€™s incredible how much knowledge children acquire in a short space of time. They have worked hard and are now reaping the benefits ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

On Friday, we are delighted to be welcoming our local MP, Helena Dollimore in to visit us. Many of you will know what an advocate Helena is for supporting the schools in our community. Helena will be meeting with the children and leading an assembly for us all. We are looking forward to showing her around OVPA and sharing all we do ๐Ÿ’™

See you tomorrow for the final week of term. We break up on Friday for a 2 week break which will be very well-deserved โ˜บ๏ธ

Our Year 6 pupils had an amazing time on their residential trip last week at PGL Windmill Hill.

They embraced every challenge and opportunity ๐ŸŒณ ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป ๐ŸŽฏ

From stepping outside their comfort zones to developing resilience, independence and teamwork, they have been supporting one another, overcoming obstacles and discovering just how much they can achieve together ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

We are so proud of their determination, courage and positive attitudes! โค๏ธ

Week 5 ๐Ÿ’™

Our fifth week of Term 1 saw Year 3 visit Hastings Aquarium where they had the wonderful opportunity to explore marine life.
We are extremely lucky to have this on our doorstep and the majority of our pupils have visited this fantastic resource. ๐Ÿฆˆ ๐Ÿ

Receptionโ€™s Starfish Class and Year 5/6 Sealions both earned class treats by collectively working together. Their hard work and efforts were recognised with a treat day chosen with the children. Well done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

We have some very excited Year 6 pupils who are packing this weekend for their residential trip to PGL at Windmill Hill. I will be joining the children and we are away from Monday - Wednesday so Mr Paramor will be in charge of the school in my absence. We are going to have an amazing time and make some wonderful memories in the childrenโ€™s last year of primary ๐Ÿฅน

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Monday โ˜€๏ธ

Week 4 โœ…

We are now half way through term 1 and the hard work is paying off. Routines are becoming established, learning in on track and progress is being made. Extremely proud of how well everyone is adapting to their new classes. Great job ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

It was Dolphin Classโ€™ turn to visit Ashburnham Place and explore their beautiful grounds. They enjoyed a nature walk, observing various minibeasts and tasting different herbs and plants. In the afternoon they made beetroot hummus and flatbreads using flour and yogurt.

Some wonderful opportunities for our children to learn about nature, first hand. This is the best type of learning.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend โ˜€๏ธ

Week 3 ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

We are cruising through this weeks, cracking on with our new learning, adjusting to new routines and making new relationships.

Some of our pupils are already starting to fly and we have seen some amazing achievements across the year groups with lots to celebrate even in these early days. A very impressive start to this school year!

Year 5 & 6 have been treated to a new common room. Mrs Ferguson, with the support from the site staff, has transformed our outdoor classroom in to a beautiful, tranquil space for our older children to socialise. This gives them the opportunity to talk and play games with friends in a cosy, unique space. A big thank you to Mrs Ferguson for your wonderful vision and all your hard work in bringing this to fruition. Very lucky children indeed ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Hope youโ€™re having a fab weekend and are getting ready for week 4.

Week 2 ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

A great first, full week of school and there is a real learning buzz starting to build.

Our new starters in Nursery & Reception have been amazing, responding to the new routines and exploring our school environment. They had their very first dance lesson with Naomi, a trained dance teacher, which was great fun!

Year 3 Otters had a brilliant day at Ashburnham Place where they explored the garden grounds, learning about ecology, local plants & flowers and biodiversity. They also made their own delicious flatbreads and hummus.

Year 4 started their Ukulele lessons with Nick, our talented Ukulele & Guitar teacher. Itโ€™s amazing to learn an instrument and all our pupils in KS2 have the opportunity to have specialised lessons.

We finished the week with our notorious Feel Good Friday & Be Your Best assembly to celebrate all we had achieved in the week.

I am sure everyone will be feeling quite tired after a busy week, so have a restful weekend and we will see you on Monday.
