💗🕊️ Baby Loss Awareness Week 🕊️💗 9th October- 15th october

This week, we remember all the precious babies gone too soon. The little lives that may have been brief, but have left the biggest footprints on our hearts. 👣🤍

We remember the parents who carry their babies in their hearts every single day, the families who face milestones with an empty space, and the love that never ends, even when a little life does. 💔🌈

Behind every loss is a story, a family, a lifetime of love, and a baby who will always matter. No matter how early the loss, no matter how long ago, every baby deserves to be remembered, and every grieving family deserves compassion, understanding, and support.

To anyone who has experienced baby loss, please know that you are not alone. Your baby matters. Your grief matters. Your love will always remain. 💕

As Baby Loss Awareness Week draws to a close, we look ahead to 15th October — the Wave of Light. 🕯️ At 7pm, we will light candles in memory of all the babies gone too soon, joining families around the world in creating a wave of light, love, and remembrance.

One moment to remember. 🌈 A love that lasts forever.

Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. 👼🏻💗

I am the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Champion for Havant Borough Council. There are many excellent organisations in the borough that do sterling work helping women escape domestic violence.

Here are some important contacts on HBC's site: https://www.havant.gov.uk/node/8555/domestic-abuse

I believe my role is about prevention as well as helping women victims. I fully support the government's initiative to end VAWG.

https://www.endviolenceagainstwomen.org.uk/governments-landmark-vawg-strategy-published/

In particular I support the focus on the education of young boys so that they never become the perpetrators of violence.

This is beyond politics. Every major party works to reduce VAWG. That is why it is so disappointing to see Reform's Robert Jenrick dismissing VAWG at his party's conference this weekend, remarking "Oh boohoo. Get a life." after more than one woman was assaulted.

They were protesting Reform UK Ltd, something that we are allowed to do in this country as part of our free speech laws. They should have been escorted out by security, not attacked.

To be absolutely clear, there is no excuse for violence against women and girls, not annoyance that they are protesting, not anger that they are too loud or in the way, not irritation that they hold different political views, not if they are a different religion to you or have none, no excuse. Every leader, every member of every political party should condemn this violence in the strongest terms.

I call on Reform to issue an apology for Jenrick's words, for Reform to make it absolutely clear that there is no excuse for violence against women and girls, and for perpetrators of such violence to be removed from their party's ranks.

Thank you so much

Baybridge Road and Prospect Lane

Massive thank you to all those who helped. 8 volunteers collected 18 bags this morning from the area around the One Stop in West Leigh.

The strangest find were kids toys found at the top of bushes. I assume they were thrown there deliberately but we like a challenge trying to get them down.

Councillor Jason Horton was asked if he was doing Community Service but no, we're volunteers just trying to keep the area tidy.

Cumulative total: 663 + 18 = 681 bags this year.

Next week we're back at Sharps Copse. Everyone is welcome, equipment is provided, why not join us?

Old Copse Road and Crossland Drive
Five volunteer wombles turned up to clean up round Lavant Stream and in the dry riverbed too. We collected fourteen bags this morning.

The bushes off River Way lead to a chair and signs of drug use, foil, little plastic drugs bags, and blister packs of paracetomol and codeine. Also lots of loo roll.

Thank you to all those who helped. A massive thank you to councillor jason horton for his continuous work with keeping Havant tidy.

Next Sunday's litter pick is at Broadmarsh and the week after we're at Purbrook again.

Cumulative total: 577 + 1 + 14 = 592 bags this year.

Southleigh Site Outline Application APP/ v Southleigh APP/26/00324. Please make your comments!

The outline planning application for Southleigh is now live. Over 90 people have already commented. Residents have been absolutely clear that if this goes ahead there MUST be a proper link road built to bypass both Warblington level crossing and North Street, Emsworth. The route needs to go through the site from Barton’s Road, south crossing Southleigh Road and connect with protected land in the south so that it can access the A27. The road needs to be straight and wide enough to allow reasonable traffic including buses to travel through the site. This is an opportunity to express your views so do please comment!

It will be a hard and lengthy battle to get the link road built but we can win it! The full cost is likely to be near to £100M which is too much for the developer to pay in full so we need to lobby for strategic funds. I have already written to Steve Reed, the minister for house building and Alan Mak, Havant MP. We are now trying to contact others, including Jess Fuller Brown, MP for Chichester and local Chichester councillors. A key source of potential funding will be the new Strategic Mayor for Hampshire, who will be elected in May 2028 and will have funds for strategic transport projects.

We would also like to reconstitute the Warblington and Denvilles Residents Association or a similar organisation as another advocate for residents. If you would be willing to help set this up and be part of the committee then please let either Phil Munday or Dan Berwick know at our council emails. [email protected] and [email protected].

🎉 July is Disability Pride Month! 🎉

With over 16 million disabled people living in the UK, this month is a vital opportunity to celebrate the diverse lived experiences, talents, and histories of the disabled community. Disability Pride isn't just about celebration; it is about visibility, action, and solidarity. It is a time to listen to disabled voices, actively challenge ableism, and commit to creating a world where accessibility is a fundamental right, not an afterthought.

The Disability Pride Flag pictured below beautifully represents our community:

🎨 Charcoal Background: To mourn and remember those lost to ableist violence.

⚡ The Diagonal Band: Symbolises cutting through the systemic barriers that divide society.
🔴 Red: Physical disabilities.
🟡 Gold: Neurodivergence.
⚪ White: Invisible and undiagnosed disabilities.
🔵 Blue: Mental health conditions and psychiatric illnesses.
🟢 Green: Sensory disabilities.

Change happens when we move from awareness to action. Let’s work together to dismantle barriers and build a completely inclusive society.

How are you marking Disability Pride Month this year? 👇
