Public Safety Reminder | RAF Valley / Flying Operations

⚠️ Please Keep a Safe Distance from Helicopter Flight Paths ⚠️

Visitors enjoying the sand dunes adjacent to 202 Sqn are requested to remain clear of helicopter approach and departure routes at all times.

Helicopters operating from RAF Valley can generate significant downwash and turbulence, particularly during take-off, landing and low-level manoeuvring. These powerful air movements can unexpectedly lift sand, debris and loose objects, creating a potential risk of injury to those standing too close to flight paths.

We appreciate that the dunes offer an excellent viewpoint to watch flying activity. By maintaining a safe distance, you can continue to enjoy the experience while helping us keep everyone safe and allowing aircrew to conduct their operations without distraction.

RAF Valley would like to inform the local community about an upcoming rotary-wing exercise taking place between 27 September and 2 October.

The exercise will feature a multiple large rotary detachment, with increased helicopter activity, training sorties and manoeuvres around RAF Valley and the surrounding area. Flying may continue until 23:59 hrs local time. 🚁✨
