IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – NEW YEAR’S DAY SWIM

After much thought and careful consideration, Hornsea Inshore Rescue has made the difficult decision to discontinue our annual New Year’s Day Swim.

This has been one of our biggest fundraising events, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported it over the years.

However, following the tragic loss of lives along our coastline, we feel we can no longer justify encouraging people to enter the North Sea, particularly during the harsh conditions of January.

As a lifesaving organisation, our first responsibility must always be the safety of our community.

This has not been an easy decision, but we firmly believe it is the right one.

No amount of fundraising is worth risking a life.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this wonderful event over the years. We hope you will continue to support Hornsea Inshore Rescue in our future fundraising activities.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Mark Tonge, from Quids In Bait and Tackle, Hull who made a wonderful donation to us of £645 raised through raffles and donations by the Holderness Coast sea angling community over past few months. An absolutely fantastic donation that will go such a long way. Thank you to everyone who donated and had a go on the raffles.

Without the help of you guys, we wouldn't be able to do what we do, and we thank everyone for their continued support.

Yesterday evening, 15/10/26, we were pleased to welcome Paul from Barcourt Caravan Estate to our weekly training evening, who had very kindly brought us a wonderful donation with money raised at a BBQ earlier in the month on the caravan site. As an independent lifeboat station we rely heavily on public donations and we are extremely greatful to everyone who attended and raised this wonderful amount of money for us and to Paul for coming down to see us to make the donation.

Every single penny will go directly into the charity funds to make sure we continue to be able to save lives at sea, 24/7/365

Swan update.....

We made the decision to move the swan from the beach, due to the rapidly rising spring tide and fear the swan rescue wouldn't arrive in time to help it. We brought the swan up to the lifeboat station, were the rescue centre collected, confirming they suspected it to have a back injury of some sorts. Its now receiving care and treatment and is in the best possible hands.

Thank you to everyone for informing us of its need for help.

12/10/2026

We have had quite a few calls and visits today regarding a young swan on beach that appears to be unwell , just for info we have been in touch with Wren Rescue who have organised a swan rescue team to attend within the next hour☺️
Thank you
