When someone first comes to Off The Fence, they are often carrying fears that feel overwhelming:

"How do I tell them?"
"It's all too much."
"I've never felt more alone."

No one should have to face crisis on their own. At Off The Fence, we provide a safe place, practical support and a listening ear, helping people find peace, hope and a way forward when life feels most difficult.

This winter, you can help bring peace to someone facing homelessness, poverty or social exclusion. Together, we can ensure that more people in our city know they are seen, valued and not alone.

We're incredibly grateful for the support of our local churches and the vital role they play in helping us serve our community. ❤️

This week, Bishop Hannington Church welcomed Off The Fence as part of their World Mission Awareness Week, hosting a prayer meeting and including us in their children's World Mission quiz.

It was a real encouragement for Nigel, Katy and Analise to spend time with the church family, sharing stories from recent months and giving thanks for the lives being changed across Brighton & Hove. Most importantly, we valued the opportunity to pray together for those facing homelessness, poverty and isolation in our city.

Thank you, Bishop Hannington Church, for your faithful partnership, prayers and heart for our community.

Harvest is always a special time for our community, and we loved spending time with the pupils of Aldrington CofE Primary School this week, exploring the meaning of harvest together. 🌾

A heartfelt thank you to the students, families and staff for their wonderful generosity in supporting our three programmes through their donations. Your kindness will help provide practical support, hope and encouragement to people across our city this harvest season. ❤️

We are so grateful to have schools like Aldrington partnering with us to make a real difference in the lives of others. Thank you for being part of our mission to see lives transformed in Brighton & Hove.

Thank You, Fairlight Primary & Nursery School! 🥰

We are so grateful to Fairlight Primary School for partnering with us in this year’s Harvest Appeal and demonstrating such wonderful generosity through their food donations.

Julio had a fantastic time spending time with both KS1 and KS2 pupils, sharing the meaning of Harvest and explaining how their kindness will make a real difference to people facing hardship in our city.

Every donated item helps us provide food parcels, hot meals, and practical support to local people in need. It is because of community-minded schools like Fairlight Primary School that we are able to continue this vital work.

From all of us at Off The Fence, thank you for helping bring hope, care, and compassion to our community. 💛

There was a real sense of warmth and thankfulness at our recent Harvest celebration at Gateway. The centre was beautifully decorated for the season, and the women enjoyed spending time at our interactive prayer station, reflecting on the blessings in their lives and all that they are grateful for.

In a busy world, it's important to pause, give thanks, and celebrate the simple things that bring hope and encouragement. We were delighted to share this special time together. ❤️🙏

This Harvest, five of the women we support joined Rosie to prepare a wonderful lunch for our Harvest service, including homemade soups and a delicious apple & blackberry crumble.

It was a joy to see their hard work enjoyed by everyone at our drop-in the following day. More importantly, it gave the women a real sense of achievement and the opportunity to give back to their community.

We were also encouraged to see several women taking part in the Harvest service by reading Scripture and even contributing to our Harvest collection to support others in the group.

Moments like these remind us of the power of community, belonging, and people using their gifts to bless others in the city. ❤️🌾
