This Protecta-tested configuration provides a practical solution where multiple small combustible pipes need to pass through the same opening:

- 3 × Ø32 mm PVC, PP or PE pipes
- Each pipe containing one Ø14 mm cable
- Two layers of Protecta FR Wrap fitted around the complete bundle
- Installed through a pattress-fit Protecta FR Board

Within this tested configuration, no separation is required between the pipes, and no additional annular gap is needed to accommodate a sealant.

The FR Pipe Wrap also provides a controlled depth of expanding material around the bundle, reducing the risk of inconsistent application depths that can occur with site-applied graphite sealants.

Key benefits include:
- Fire classification up to EI 90
- Individual pipe diameters up to Ø40 mm
- Pipe bundles up to Ø110 mm
- Quick and straightforward installation
- Supplied in 25m rolls for efficient use across multiple applications
- 25-year working life under normal conditions

Always confirm the latest Protecta technical documentation for the specific pipe material, service configuration, supporting construction and required fire classification.

Not every cable pe*******on requires a high-expansion sealant.

This Protecta-tested detail uses FR Acrylic to seal a Ø100 mm cable bundle, formed from cables ≤ Ø21 mm, with a 10mm annular gap around the bundle.

Key benefits include:
- No requirement for a more expensive high-expansion sealant
- Fire classification up to EI 240
- Individual cables up to Ø80 mm within the tested scope
- Cable bundles up to Ø100 mm
- Simple and cost-effective installation
- 25-year working life under normal conditions

This practical, tested solution can simplify product selection and installation without compromising the required fire performance.

As always, follow the complete tested system, including the specified supporting construction, seal depth, backing material, and service configuration.

Collaboration and shared expertise are essential to improving building safety.

Yesterday, our Sales Director, Paul Horton, joined our valued Irish customer, ISOPARTNER Technical Insulation Solutions Ltd at the IFE Fire Safety Conference 2026.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the latest developments in passive fire protection and building safety, while sharing practical insights into Protecta’s tested systems and how they can support projects across Ireland.

It was also a great opportunity to connect with:
• Denis McGill – ISOPARTNER
• Mark O’Brien – ISOPARTNER
• Darren Brennan – Siderise Group
• Richard Biston – Siderise Group

Thank you to ISOPARTNER for inviting Protecta to support them, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the day's conversations.

By bringing together product knowledge, tested systems, and practical experience, we can continue supporting safer, more accountable buildings across Ireland.

Restricted access shouldn’t mean compromising the firestop.

When a pipe is positioned close to a wall or floor, there may not be enough space to install a complete fire collar.

The Protecta half-collar detail provides a practical, tested solution for these difficult locations, helping installers achieve a clearly documented and certifiable pe*******on seal without needing full access around the service.

Key benefits include:
- Suitable for a range of tested pipe configurations
- Pipe diameters up to 160mm, subject to the approved system
- Fire classification up to EI 240
- Suitable for U/U classifications where covered
- Simple to install in restricted-access areas
- The unused collar section can be retained for another installation
- A working life of 30 years under normal conditions

The maximum distance of 55mm between the service and the substrate still applies. Always check the relevant Protecta system detail for the specific pipe, insulation, supporting construction and required fire classification.

A tested firestopping product can only perform as intended when it is selected and installed correctly.

Protecta Product Training gives our customers the practical knowledge needed to design, install and inspect firestop systems with greater confidence.

The training will help you:
- Understand the differences between key fire-testing and certification routes
- Identify the essential site information needed before selecting a system
- Find and interpret manufacturers’ approvals
- Understand CE/UKCA marking, Declarations of Performance and third-party verification
- Ask the right questions to determine whether a firestop solution is fit for purpose

Whether you work in specification, installation, project management or inspection, the aim is simple: to help you work more efficiently, reduce uncertainty and support fire-safety compliance.

Training can be delivered:
- Online
- In person at our dedicated training facility at Polyseam HQ in Huddersfield

Would the fire seal you designed, installed or inspected stand up to scrutiny?

Protecta’s on-demand webinar, 10 Lifesaving Questions to Ask About Your

Fire Seal, provides a practical framework for assessing whether a firestopping system is genuinely fit for purpose.

Watch the webinar to learn:

- How changes to fire-safety regulations affect passive fire protection
- Why third-party verification matters
- What information should be checked before designing a fire seal
- How to assess tested data and approvals against actual site conditions

Whether you design, install, specify, or inspect firestopping, these ten questions can help you spot critical issues before they become costly or dangerous.

Clearer floor plans. More focused reports. Better traceability.

The latest Protecta Project Manager update includes several practical improvements designed to make managing firestopping projects easier:

Grouped Markers:
Markers positioned close together are now grouped into a single cluster displaying the total number. Zoom in to view each marker individually.

Smaller Marker Points:
A cleaner marker design makes busy floor plans easier to view and navigate.

Zoomed Floor-Plan Areas In Reports:
Select and include a specific area of a floor plan, helping reports focus clearly on the relevant installations.

Marker Activity Log:
View a history of activity for each marker, providing greater visibility of changes throughout the project.

We have also introduced further styling and performance improvements across the platform. Open Protecta Project Manager and explore the latest updates.

You can now add non-Protecta products to your firestop projects at no additional cost.

External products can be added at project level through the Project Manager web platform, together with supporting product images and relevant documentation.

Once added, they can be assigned to individual firestop markers using either the web platform or the mobile app.

External products are clearly identified, giving project teams greater flexibility while keeping all relevant product information within one connected project record.

Open Protecta Project Manager and try it today.

One aperture. Multiple services. One tested firestopping system.

Modern service openings rarely contain just one pipe or cable. Multiple services may all need to pass through the same aperture, with or without insulation.

Protecta FR Board and Protecta EX Mortar systems can provide tested pe*******on seals for mixed services within the same opening.

For compliant installation, the positioning of the services is important:
- Services should be at least 25mm from the edge of the seal
- No minimum separation is required between services within the tested system
- Where Protecta FR Pipe Wraps are used, maintain at least 30mm separation from other services in the aperture

What if a service is less than 25mm from the seal edge?
For wall pe*******ons only, a pattress application using Protecta FR Board may be used. This increases the width of the fire seal and helps reduce heat transfer through the penetrating services.

Mixed-service apertures can be complex, but the correct tested system can provide a practical and clearly documented solution.

Always check the latest Protecta technical documentation and approved system detail for the specific services, supporting construction and required fire resistance.
