Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Adoption is a Regional Adoption Agency for Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council responsible for providing a range of Adoption and Adoption Support Services including special guardianship support across both Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome 17 adoptive families to our latest family event. 💙

The event gave children and parents the opportunity to come together, make new connections and spend time with other families who understand the adoption journey.

There were lots of hands-on activities to keep everyone busy, including cake decorating, table tennis, a temporary tattoo and face glitter station, colouring activities, toy cars and lots of fun playing in the garden.

It was wonderful to see the children making new friends while adopters had the chance to chat, share experiences and build supportive connections. Our social workers received some lovely feedback, with families saying they really enjoyed the event and appreciated the opportunity to meet others. Several families told us they're already looking forward to the next event!

Over the past five years, the gap between children needing adoption and approved adopters has grown by 52%, while the number of approved adopters has fallen by 46%.

This means there are now over 3,000 children in England without a permanent family and home.
