🚛⚖️ An overweight van. A routine stop. A £200,000 cannabis haul.

Officers from our Road Policing Unit stopped this Mercedes Sprinter on the A1 near Sawtry after noticing it appeared overweight.

The occupants claimed it was carrying commercial waste, but checks uncovered cannabis worth up to £200,000, along with the remnants of a cannabis factory.

One man has since been jailed for being concerned in the supply of drugs

Another example of how proactive policing and keen observations by officers can lead to major results. 👏

The driver of this Audi A3 crashed into a bush in Toll Bar Lane, Huntingdon, on Sunday and then attempted to continue his journey, despite the two flat tyres!

The 21-year-old blew 112 at the roadside - more than three times the legal limit and at 10.20 in the morning!

He was arrested and is due before the courts next month.

If you're drinking, don't drive. It's that simple.

👮‍♀️ I can go all day mate!

That’s what one of our officers shouted as he chased and successfully caught up with a second man in connection with a series of shop burglaries across Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

He’s since been charged with the below and will reappear in court next month.

🛒Premier Express, Poringland - 11 September
🛒Co-op, Newnham, Cambridge - 13 September
🛒Budgens, Bluntisham - 16 September
🛒Kenninghall Stores, Norfolk - 17 September
🛒Bridge End Stores, Earith - 23 September

📦🚐 Parcel deliveries might be running a little late...

Officers stopped this van in St Neots after spotting the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

Checks revealed the van had:
❌ No insurance
❌ No tax
❌ Two bald front tyres, including one with cords exposed
❌ Defective lights, with only some working
❌ Significant vehicle defects and corrosion

The van was carrying parcels, so apologies if you're waiting on a delivery today, but in all seriousness, if your job involves driving all day, your vehicle must be roadworthy and properly insured.

Vehicles in this condition pose a risk not only to the driver, but to everyone else using the road.

The van has been taken off the road and driver reported.

Another vehicle off the road, this time Ramsey St Mary. Rest heading home after another good productive shift, when this vehicle caught their attention and could help but spin on it.

Vehicle tried hiding from police by going lights out and dumping the car in a car park, but not only did he lose the game of hide and seek, he lost his car too.
