Fire crews will no longer respond to most automated fire alarm call-outs 08/04/2024

In an emerging trend, more fire crews are changing their response policies to fire alarm activations, not attending to fire alarms in low-risk commercial premises unless a fire has been confirmed first. This has been ongoing for some time and is gaining momentum.

The idea behind this approach is simple: reducing unnecessary call-outs, reducing costs, valuable resources and focus on genuine emergencies. It's no surprise that more fire crews are embracing this idea.

For business and property owners, it's crucial to understand your local fire authority's policy regarding automated fire alarm signals. Be sure to speak to them, or search online if any announcements have been made. Also ensure that your site contact and keyholder information is up to date with your alarm company and alarm receiving centre.

Stay safe!

🔥🚨 The latest addition to Takeover Fridays! 🚨🔥

Just discovered the 'sweet surprise' hidden behind this quality fire alarm installation - Looks like the 'chocolate-engineer' decided that the best way to sweeten up this masterpiece was by dumping celebration wrappers behind the wiring.

Stay tuned as we will be ripping this 💩 out next week! Before and after photos to come 😊

Major upgrade commenced at one of our Leeds sites, with the installation of the first panel today. The site comprises multiple buildings housing a total of 11 Fire Alarm Control Panels

This is from a new takeover. Initially, the system appeared to be in good order, and we were aware that a well-known national firm had been maintaining this system for over 10 years. However, it didn't take us long to begin uncovering issues as we visually inspected the installation. This is just a glimpse of what we found. This serves as a compelling example of why thorough assessments during takeovers are crucial. You never know what may be lurking beneath the surface!

A successful Gent swap-out completed at one of our sites in Kettering. The old installation was in quite a sorry state, so as well as swapping out all the old Gent kit, an extensive tidy up has also been undertaken to get the installation up to an acceptable standard. The site is now prepared for the next phase, which involves adding additional detection, including heat trace and aspirating detection to achieve Category P1.

No matter how small the task, we always strive to deliver our best work. This simple panel change for one of our customers went beyond just replacing the panel. We also altered the wiring to improve the installation, added a compliant mains keyswitch isolator, relocated the manual call point for better visibility, and created a set of building drawings. These drawings have now been sent to our CAD designer to generate a new fire alarm zone chart.

Keeping pace with the new digital age, we are currently working on an online customer portal for our clients. This initiative aims to significantly streamline data management processes and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

The portal will enable customers to raise support tickets, request jobs or quotations, upload drawings and photos, download user manuals, check service and invoice history, report faults, weekly tests and false alarms in an online logbook, and much more!
