💜 HAVE YOUR SAY – SEN YOUTH CLUB SURVEY 💜

Following the fantastic feedback we received on our recent post about a potential dedicated SEN youth club, we’re delighted that a survey has now kindly been created by Keswick Town Council - to help us gather more detailed information from our community! 🥰

We want to better understand the needs of young people and families in our area, and hear whether a dedicated SEN session would be beneficial.

📝 Please take a few minutes to complete our survey and share your views:

📅 The survey closes on Friday 6th November.

Your feedback will help us build a clearer picture of local needs and inform future discussions about what support and opportunities could be available for our young people.

Please SHARE this post with other families who may wish to have their say. Every response helps! 💜

Thank you for your continued support! 🫶

Could you be a Keswick Town Councillor?

Have you ever wanted to make a difference in Keswick? Do you care about our community and have ideas about how we could make our town an even better place to live, work and visit?

In May 2027, local council elections will take place, and we want to get people thinking about the important role they could play in shaping Keswick’s future.

Being a town councillor is about representing local residents, listening to the community and helping make decisions that affect everyday life in our town.

From supporting community events and local projects to championing residents’ views and helping shape local priorities, there are lots of ways councillors can make a positive difference.

💬 You don’t need to have all the answers or previous council experience. What matters is that you care about Keswick, want to get involved and are willing to listen, learn and work with others.

We want our Town Council to reflect the community it serves, with people from different backgrounds, ages, experiences and walks of life bringing their ideas to the table.

With elections coming up in May 2027, now is a great time to start finding out more and thinking about whether becoming a councillor could be for you.

Could you help shape the future of Keswick?

Keep an eye on our page for more information about becoming a town councillor and feel free to get in touch and ask any questions!

Double Gold for Keswick’s Parks at Cumbria in Bloom!

We’re delighted to share that Fitz Park and Hope Park have both won Gold Awards at the Cumbria in Bloom Awards! 🏆🏆

These awards recognise the hard work, dedication and care that go into keeping our beautiful parks looking their best throughout the year. We’d like to thank everyone involved in their upkeep, including Debbie Devereux and Matt Riley at Café HNW Keswick in Fitz Park, and all the wonderful staff at Hope Park Games and Cafe in Hope Park.

Our parks are an important part of Keswick, providing welcoming spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the seasons. These awards are a wonderful recognition of the efforts that help make them such special places.

The Cumbria in Bloom Awards celebrate the people, businesses, schools, community groups and volunteers who work hard to make our towns and villages greener, brighter and more welcoming places to live and visit.

A huge well done to all the winners and everyone who helps Keswick bloom! 🫶

Helping to protect a mature Sycamore in Lower Fitz Park

Our tree surgeon has recently installed a Cobra shock absorber system in a mature Sycamore tree in Lower Fitz Park.

The tree has twin stems which have the potential to split at their union. Rather than removing the tree, we have taken a more sympathetic approach to help retain this valuable mature tree for the future.

The Cobra system is a rubber shock absorber installed around the two stems. It allows the stems to retain a natural degree of movement while helping to reduce the risk of the union splitting. This movement also gives the tree the opportunity to form reaction wood around the union, strengthening the area over time.

Importantly, the system requires no drilling, bolts or holes in the tree. It is installed using a sliding rubber shock absorber around the stems, providing support while allowing the tree to continue growing and moving naturally.

🌿 It’s a great example of how careful tree management can help us retain mature trees rather than resorting to removal.

We’ll continue to monitor the tree as part of our ongoing management of the trees in Lower Fitz Park.
