📚✨ DESBOROUGH BOOK CLUB – OCTOBER ROUND-UP ✨📚

What a lovely, lively meeting filled with book recommendations, opinions and great discussion! ☕📖💬

🌸 Our Featured Author: Victoria Hislop

Victoria Hislop was a popular choice this month, with members enjoying her beautifully described settings, historical detail and emotional storytelling. Two Islands was particularly highly recommended ⭐. We also discussed One August Night, The Return, Postcards from Greece and The Last Dance and Other Stories.

📚 Other Books We Enjoyed

Our members shared a fantastic variety of reads this month, including:

🕰️ Historical Fiction: The Ocean Liner – Marie Benedict
🔍 Mystery & Thrillers: The Lucky Winners – K. L. Slater and The Man Who Died Twice – Richard Osman
🧙‍♀️ Fantasy: Rewitched – Lucy Jane Wood and The Black Magician Trilogy – Trudi Canavan
💕 Feel-Good Fiction: The Forgotten Book Club – Kate Storey and The Book of Beginnings – Sally Page
💗 Contemporary & Family Drama: City of Friends – Joanna Trollope and The Girl with the Louding Voice – Abi Daré.

From uplifting stories about friendship and new beginnings to darker themes of family conflict, bereavement and personal choices, there was something to spark everyone’s interest. 💬✨

As always, opinions varied, with mixed reviews proving just as useful as glowing recommendations when choosing our next read! 📖👍

❤️ Looking Ahead

Next month, our genre is Romance 💕💍, with Lynda La Plante as our featured author.

We look forward to another wonderful meeting, plenty of book chat and lots more recommendations! 📚☕💗

🎄🎄Christmas Family Games Night🎄🎄

After our fun last games night which included, sheep racing, bingo and a quiz we were looking to run a Christmas event. However there isn't a spare Saturday night in December available at the library.
We were wondering about potentially doing a session on either Sunday 6th or 13th December. Either in the afternoon or early evening.
So what we are asking is:
a- would you be interested in coming to this event?
b- afternoon or evening?
Thank you

There are so many things coming up - here's a taster. Where booking is needed, it is open now.

We've added a day to our Gala weekend festivities with the craft fair on Gala Night and the Saturday as usual but with Sunday being 'Festive Frolics' with Trinity Singers performing, Twinning and Charter offering European treats and we have lots of fun things to do plus turkey and carnbeery rolls/brie and cranberry too, and Rudolph milkshakes. And Santa will be there for s storytime.

We'd love to see you.
