❤️ What an incredible end to the half term! ⚽

We finished the half term in fantastic style with our Wear Red Day in support of Show Racism the Red Card! 🔴

Throughout the week, the children have been engaging in thoughtful discussions about racism and sexism in football, exploring how these issues affect players and what we can all do to make a difference.

In our special assembly on Friday, each year group presented a footballer and the value they represent, explaining how the two link together. We celebrated the achievements and experiences of Jude Bellingham, Eni Aluko, Marcus Rashford, John Barnes, Alex Scott and Cyrille Regis. The children did an absolutely amazing job! 🌟

The children created their own pledges, thinking carefully about how we can challenge racism, stand up against discrimination and make a positive difference in our games and everyday lives. ❤️

⚽ The excitement continued with our staff football match! Watched by children from Years 1 to 6, it was a fantastic opportunity for our staff to demonstrate the importance of positive player behaviours, teamwork, respect and good sportsmanship, regardless of whether you win or lose!

It has been wonderful to see everyone getting involved, asking thoughtful questions and talking so openly about racism in football throughout the week. The enthusiasm, understanding and commitment shown by the children have been fantastic.

👏 A huge well done to all our children and staff for making it such a memorable day! We are incredibly proud of everyone for showing that football, and our school community, should be places where everyone is respected, included and celebrated.

We hope our families have a well-earned restful break and look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 2nd November. ❤️

A little reminder that tomorrow, Friday 16th October, children are invited to wear a football kit if they have one or their PE kit with additional red items as a visible sign of our school community standing together against racism. Let's see how creative you can be!

❤️ SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD ❤️

Next week, we will be taking part in Show Racism the Red Card.

Throughout the week, our children will take part in a range of age-appropriate activities designed to help them explore how Christian values can be reflected in football, including respect, kindness, fairness, humility, forgiveness and generosity.

At St Mary’s, we believe that every child should feel valued, respected and included, and that our differences are something to celebrate.

We look forward to a meaningful week of learning, discussion and reflection as a whole St Mary’s community, helping our children understand the importance of standing together against racism and celebrating what makes each of us unique.

🍂🌾 Harvest Assembly 🌾🍂

What a wonderful Harvest Assembly we had today! ❤️

We were incredibly proud of our children as they stepped outside of their comfort zones and stood in front of the whole school to perform their class-created autumn and harvest poems.

For some children, speaking and performing in front of an audience can feel like a huge challenge, but they showed such courage, confidence and determination. 🌟

Their poems were incredible — creative, thoughtful and full of imagination — and it was wonderful to see each class bring their own ideas to life.

Most importantly, we loved seeing our children support one another, celebrate each other’s successes and, most of all, shine! ✨

A huge well done to every single child who took part. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.

At St Mary’s, we truly believe in helping every child discover their confidence, find their voice and let their light shine. 💛

Well done, St Mary’s! 🍂🌾✨

💛 WEAR YELLOW TOMORROW! 💛

A little reminder that tomorrow, Friday 9th October, we will be wearing yellow with our school uniform as we take part in Hello Yellow! 🌟

We are joining thousands of people across the country to stand out, start conversations and raise awareness of young people’s mental health.

Donations are welcome. There is no pressure to donate – any contribution, however small, can help support this important cause.

Together, we can help make sure that no young person feels alone with their mental health.

🌟 We are incredibly proud! 🌟

It is a real honour for us to have been recognised with Flagship Status for Inclusion by the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM).

This award recognises the hard work, dedication and commitment of our whole school community in ensuring that every child feels included, valued, supported and able to shine. ❤️

This achievement belongs to our entire St Mary’s family – our children, staff, parents, carers and wider community. Together, we work hard every day to ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging and that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, but we also know that this is not the end of our journey. It is a milestone that inspires us to keep learning, keep improving and keep working together to make St Mary’s an even more inclusive place for every child.

✨ The future is bright at St Mary’s, and together we will continue to let every child’s light shine. ✨
