π₯ A HUGE THANK YOU! π
The last couple of months have been quite something for the crew here at Kington Fire Station. The exceptionally dry weather has seen us incredibly busy, dealing with numerous wildfires, agricultural fires and other incidents across the county.
So, a huge thank you to Route 44 Diner for feeding us and our families last night! ππ And an equally massive thank you to everyone who so kindly donated towards the evening and made it possible. It really was appreciated by all of us.
Thankfully, the recent rain has finally brought things back towards normality. After what has felt like a relentless couple of months, we can finally start to relax, recharge the batteries and, most importantly, spend some proper time with our families and friends.
That's perhaps the unseen side of being an on-call firefighter. While most people have been enjoying their summer, our crew have spent a huge amount of theirs answering the pager (alerter). That means cancelled plans, interrupted meals, leaving family gatherings early and spending many long, hot hours away from the people at home.
We absolutely love what we do and wouldn't have it any other way, but we also couldn't do it without the support and understanding of our families. They've given up a big part of their summer too.
So last night was a chance to get everyone together, enjoy some great food and say thank you β to our crew, our families, Route 44 Diner and everyone in our community who continues to support us.
From all of us at Kington Fire Station β thank you. πβ€οΈ
